Only once in India's history has a govt come back for the third term. And that was when there was no opposition. 

 

Indira Gandhi won 303 seats on her in 1971 and was wiped off by 1974, lost badly and then came back with a bang in 1981. 

 

Rajiv Gandhi won 403 seats to be later reduced to 197 next elections. 

 

History is replete with political uncertainties and possibilities. 

 

Uncertainty is the only certainty and who rides the waves better comes out the winner.
