Washy has shown the potential to hang around, avoiding the opposition to teething into the tail. Plus he does have shots, which he can play with the tail. Both Pant & Washy are underrated in terms of their ability to play with the tail. Its not always about numbers, its the impact that they offer.

 

Historically as well, Pollock was an extremely capable batter, could have easily been no 6. But played majority of his career at no 8....coz thats what team needed. Laxman played at no 3/opener for Hyderabad...but had to settle at no 5/6 for the team. Ganguly too was an opener for Bengal but moved to no 5 for Sehwag.

These dads often end up ruining reputation of their sons. Ashwin's dad said something. But Ashwin clarified it though.

Actually they were the only ones who picked wickets in the 4th test lol Fast bowlers were the ones that went missing. You can get rid of THakur and include Kuldeep. Jadeja is a pure batsman in SENA.

Washi I am sure is a normal, well-mannered humble boy, calm head on his shoulders...but some people may get the wrong impression because of his dad's antics.

That's the point. If you depend on spinners to pick wickets in SENA, you will have similar game like Old Trafford most of the times.

Pace attack was terrible for Manchester... Half fit Bumrah, Tired Siraj and Kam-Bhoj + Gandul

its not like they stopped the 4 pacers from picking wickets. Sundar didn't even get to bowl in the first 50 overs, last match

We missed the bus. We are having exclusively no wicket taking seamers in the reserves. Also taking wickets on flat wickets is an art. These guys are remotely good at that. Spin is England's achiells heel even on flat wickets.

That's not true. England has no problem playing spin on flat tracks.

I am talking on relative terms. Even on flat tracks they are likely to be more comfortable against subbish pace than spin. Also they are not going to block against spin. They will give you chances from time to time.

Very good, industrious and effective cricketer. Also has good cricket acumen.

 

as a cricket fan extremely boring to watch. Bowling is boring but effective darts with no real bite, guile or spice and batting is claw,scratch. Survive with dab to third man with the odd hoick. Fielding is also is very mediocre

Yep. There's another example in the NBA - Lamelo Ball and Lonzo Ball. Both humble, level-headed guys with a pain-in-the-backside father - LaVarr Ball.

Good fast bowlers can pick wickets inside 30 overs and then again with new ball after 80.. so team's score might be restricted to 450.. with spinners there is no guarantee. Jadeja got lot of cheap wickets in the last match.

We just saved a Test with that still this thanklessness. Wickets can be picked by having good pacers plus Kuldeep

Except we don't have good fast bowlers bar Bumrah, Siraj, Akash.
