When India was 327-2 in 44 overs, even then also TM felt that it's better to send in KL Rahul to maximise the score.

Role wise, he is just an extra batter and not the finisher which everyone is assuming him to be.

Yea.. i think batting against 10 over ball is different from 22 over ball.

Ind dint invest or tried to find a power hitter or a finisher. Do not think Sky's has a role or a position in the batting line-up.

Right now he is just filling up a spot. He is not out and out power hitter he kind of plays modern shots uses pace of the bowler.

In t20 its easy as the ball remains hard for most of the duration + he bats at the top making use of pace is easier there.

In ODIs batting at 6 coming ball is not that new getting 4/6 with cheeky shots is not that easy + he is last recognized batter so wont be able to take that many risks.

Compared to batters like MIller, klaasen, Butler, Maxwell etc. are able to hit the ball really hard and play modern shots

They trusted Iyer after a long injury.

They trusted KL despite all the criticism.

They trusted Gill despite Ishan Kishan 200.

It's all about putting your faith in someone and persisting with him. If they chose SKY for this role, why are we talking about it everyday? No. 6 is no easy role, but there isn't guy more ideal than him to do that.

That's the problem with having batsman like him.

Team selected him on basis on T20 exloits only and now they are not sure of his reliablity and can't take up the rate.

I don't know what is there to be unsure about. Sky is a T20 player and can only for in last 8-10 overs in ODI. His List A records pretty much speaks for it and ODI record reinforces that point very well. That he can't bowl makes him a luxury choice for the team in ODIs. It may work out sometimes but won't work most of the times.

not seen him much but it is a fact he is a much better T20 player than 50 over player, which suggests he struggles with fear of failure and is likely wasted down the order unless he’s applying finishing touches to an already huge score.

He cannot play shot down the wicket even if his life was depending on it.How can you be top order and don't have any shots in V.

Most posters here knew he was a hack.  And we could be in big trouble at some point in this WC. And it happened in the all imp Final.     He does not do any justice as a specialist batter at no. 6.  Pandya's absence clearly reflecting.

Don't blame him, he is a limited cricketer who can work wonders in a phatta in T20 match when you've 5 overs to bat and ball is nicely coming to bat. Why would Rohit and Dravid back him to play ODI? Tilak varma should've been our candidate and he could've bowled few overs also. Lack of planning as there was no substitute for Pandya, or other middle-order batters?  They just kept backing a failed product for too long.
