Did India get away with it ?

1) the toss. Which was a decider. The pitch and conditions are totally different under lights.

2) really poor fielding and catching under clutch moments.

3) Williamson wicket which turned the game was not a great ball.

4) Kohli scores run a ball in high scoring SF to secure his century. Could gave cost dearly.

This team deserves the luck it gets. But it was a tad lucky today

While I agree that it swings under lights in Wankhede, it always gives you a second chance. It becomes a complete belter after 15 overs in evening that coupled with short boundaries and fast outfield, a boundary an over and 8 rpo is very very manageable without any risks.

It is proof of quality of the bowling we have that we didn't let NZ reach even 375.

Toss win was huuge

Even if NZ made 340-350 in first innings, I don't think our batsmen would have been comfortable chasing.

Great toss win ra Rohit :hatsoff:

What was SR of Williamson and Mitchell.

Kohli did just fine.Him staying at one end gives other batsmen the assurance to attack.

How many runs should India have won for it not be counted as luck?

That was fine, people can bat around him

Match thread posts actually don't mean anything, jinxing and emotional outbursts are more over there

Toss helped...but that can go either way. Kohli played his role..which was to anchor .without him we could  have scored 300 as others will collapse or play defensively.

The biggest issue is poor fielding and sometimes poor bowling. We were rattled and making bad mistakes...if Shami didn't break through things could have gone downhill...a catch drop is ok but add in bumrahs miss kls glove and shamis miss jadeja overthrow...all in 5 overs timeframe..that's panic....

Siraj bowling bad is normal..he needs help from the wicket to be dangerous and can't bowl defensively. Bumrah had an off day...he won't have too many next time around.

Got away.. lol. No words.

We need lots of threads for the Final too. We can win that comfortably too and then read more threads how we won the world cup but could have won better. Just wasn't good enough... mistakes pointed out.. one player who had bad day pointed out...  more of that normal ICF stuff.

NZ was never in with a real shot at chasing it and always behind in the chase. If India did things much better, match would have finished faster. If that is what some get disappointed about. that is fine. But more power to fans who are just enjoying and relishing this than worrying about the little stuff all the time.

This thread is pointless.I am sure no  opposition fan has ever made a thread on the countless important tosses we have lost in just the past decade.

Except for wtc final and ct 2017 all ko s we have lost toss. England has won all ko tosses. Even in this wc they won 7 tosses

Was at Wankhede today. The crowd had given up hope when it was 190 something required of 19 overs and Mitchell's catch was put down.

Everyone was waiting for one trigger moment and that was Williamson's wicket.

Agree on Kohli scoring slow. Lot more cheers for Shreyas for how fearlessly he played.

They needed 185 runs in 19 overs with 6 wkts to spare. That is when I thought we might lose. Both KW and GP wkts fell at crucial times. If they had scored 30 off more runs, it would have been much closer like the Aus-NZ game. They ran out of power hitters

I'd rather say it was Nzl who were lucky today in the second dig.

So many balls missed the edge in the first 10 overs  ,so many inside edges not choked onto the stumps, Kuldeep getting Kane out but umpires call saving him ,3-4 easy catches dropped .

How much more luck they needed?

Had Kane got out earlier ,Nzl would have folded inside 300.

Only good thing that went our way in the second innings was no dew

They were 186/2 when Shami dropped a sitter. KW got out at 220/2, match would be over much earlier.
