goose Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 Most of the current RSA test XI handing our boys a thrashing will be contractually obliged to participate in the SA20 league in January for Indian owned franchises. RSA will be sending a C team to contest a two test series in NZ. IPL continues to ravage the sport we love. Lone Wolf, nevada, Adamant and 3 others 6

IPL effectively owns Cricket South Africa, and the directive is play our game if you want our help. IPL / BCCI are custodians of the sport and they pursuing wilful destruction of test cricket. They will tell you it’s dying nobody wants it. No it’s just harder to monetise. Kothili 1
Adamant Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 This *ing IPL.... Hope it rots in hell, a cancer to World cricket. Ab do kaudi ke low iq vaale aake bolenge ki cricketers ko paise de raha IPL, cricket itself will die if we continue with this Jaydev_Unadkat and harpicP 2

Norman Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 Look IPL has a million things for us to sit and criticise all day long but foreign cricket boards' incompetence at generating finances through international cricket is most definitely not it's fault. Suhaan, raki05 and Kothili 1 1 1
sensible-indian Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 Cricket as we know it is dying. T20 is such a rotten format to enjoy the complexities of cricket.

That's a galactic stretch... why do you think IPL owners are buying every team under the sun, across multiple geographies (UAE, SA, USA). they want to disrupt and knock out all obstacles to their plans. CSA being forced to guarantee it's contracted players choose SA20 over tests is just one example. so yeh i hold IPL and BCCI accountable for the death of test cricket. they chose to monetise the sport instead of preserving the game's most precious format Kothili 1
Nikhil_cric Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 IPL is not killing Test cricket. Cricketing evolution is killing the format. It's simply not a viable format outside of England and Australia The Hound, rollingstoned and raki05 3
cricketfan28 Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 ultimately everyone wants to make money. Kothili 1
Iconoclast Posted December 31, 2023 Posted December 31, 2023 Cricket is not evolving. People are evolving. Fans now have shorter attention spans and seek quick thrills. They no longer have the patience and endurance to get into the nitty-gritty of test cricket. They are now casual fans instead of true connoisseurs of the game. harpicP 1

And how on earth are individual IPL owners doing what they're doing a responsibility of BCCI? I have my own qualms with BCCI and IPL but let's be objective and reasonable here. Kothili and raki05 1 1

Nikola Posted December 31, 2023 Posted December 31, 2023 Think it happens everywhere now. Even if we had test tours at time of ipl, all our main players would be playing ipl not test cricket. That's after being richest cricket board by some distance. Don't think SA's cricket board's financial problems are reason for this. Except Australia & maybe England every nation will prioritize t20 tournament now.
harpicP Posted January 1, 2024 Posted January 1, 2024 You don’t think players like money? But yea ipl sucks.
Vickydev Posted January 1, 2024 Posted January 1, 2024 The Big 3 need to come together and save Tests at any cost, its proper cricket. Rather scrap ODIs. Absolute waste of a format. Prioritize Test cricket for bilaterals. Reserve T20s for franchise stuff and a WC every 4 years like Football
AKane Posted January 1, 2024 Posted January 1, 2024 (edited) I would not be surprised if this C team of South Africa did better than the A+++ team of India with Kohli/Bumrah/Shami 2019/20. A+++ team of India had first test 10 wicket defeat, second test 7 wicket defeat. Watch..... Edited January 1, 2024 by AKane Suhaan and harpicP 2
