Gillespie (tests) and Kirsten (white ball) are new Pak coaches

As long as their work Is not interfered with, this is a great move and in Gillespie especially the kind of coach India should have got. Good that it is two separate regimes, again something india should be doing

 

Especially with JG being a paceman, could be very good for Pak cricket.

 

Can't help but hope they screw it up.

Gillespie is a great coach for the pacers. Ishant Sharma praised him a lot for his revival in test cricket after his county stint under Gillespie.

Gillespie can work magic with Shaheen, Shaheen is taller than Ishant and as fast as he was post 2015, if Shaheen can get to Ishant Sharma 2016 level that will help Pakistan in away matches

That's why it is fortuitous that he got the gig now.  Good chance of lasting until 2027.

 

Had he got it before the 2023 World Cup, he wouldn't have lasted a year.

There are hardly around 8 main teams in cricket, out of that in any tournament only around 4-5 are in form. So reaching semis is not any achievement in cricket, it's not like football where so many good teams are there.

Gillespie is a damn good coach. I find it sad that Indian management did not have the gumption to get him onboard. He can transform the Pakistani bowlers. 

I dont know what Mcgrath has done for MRF foundation, but I am biased towards Gillespie as being a better coach than Mcgrath.

There are no free lunches. 

No organization can be so amateurish to pay a professional without defined KRA's. Whether online or in person, GIllespie will have to justify his role through numbers.
