This is the most disturbing thing.  The thread might go into the 50th page as well.  But two things will NEVER change.       1) Lolhi continuing to suck in tests till the time he himself decides to quit    2) Neither the captain nor the TM will dare to pressurize him into playing ranji or any domestic tournament.

It's sort of confirmed now. I don't mind if Kohli settles in the UK, but it sends out a very sorry message if a former India captain like him does not prefer his own country, given the online noise that's been created on how great India is and what not.

 

Don't be surprised if others follow the same suit and look to leave India in droves. And I don't see India becoming a world class place to live any time soon.

His reason to shift to UK is basically privacy and freedom.  Celebrities don't have these in India.

Agreed and I'm fine with that. Even a small country like Azerbaijan is way ahead of India in quality of life.

 

Just that it reinforces negative stereotypes about India in general. Our freedom fighters did not fight so hard so that Indians in future end up avoiding India.

What's the big deal even hollywood celebrities move away from US and settle in France and UK for privacy.

Hollywood celebs go to Europe for culture. Indian celebs emigrate to escape India, there's a difference here.

No I don't think so and anyway he has just a few years at maximum left in the game at the age of 36.

The issue with these sources is that they underestimate the complexity involved in getting UK citizenship for an Indian citizen. It is at best a multi year process and for someone without a job with a UK employer or a student, it is very hard. Kohli is also barely educated beyond class 12. The investment route has been tightened and you need at least £2m liquid to be invested in the UK to be given permission to stay and even that isn't so quick.
