One word of advice to all ( and this should show how much i care about trumpwa and e-lund-wa): DO NOT SHORT Tesla stocks.

I know it looks tempting but Tesla is about 3x overvalued by stocks and no one knows why, not even CMA-MBA financial planners have a clue how tesla can be worth 3x in stock value to other EVs, especially now that other EVs are competing with Tesla in quality.

Tesla's decline isnt a shorting option, its a market correction. If u buy tesla stocks thinking they will rebound, you might as well turn your money into toiletpaper.

@Muloghonto  Naked Shorting in general is inherently extremely risking .....because if many people short and there is a high short interest --any positive news and the stock starts shooting up and there is panicked covering causing a rocketship move upwards.

 

So the reasons for NOT shorting are not business /value proposition per say entirely -- also technical.

 

IN general there is a lot of resentment against Tesla because of what Elon is doing with DOGE, and people in Europe are cancelling Tesla.

 

If the trade war escalates with CHina -( which is Tesla's 2nd largest / largest market ) ---it will further impact.

 

BYD is already growing much faster...and Germany has been producing some amazing EVs.....Japan will too...

 

Tesla's valuation is based on the premise that they are going to dominate 40-50 % of the global EV market -- which can never happen IMO.

Bhai, all i know is Tesla stocks defy gravity. I asked my financial planner about Tesla a couple of years ago when i returned to Canada from desh and this dude is CMA-MBA.
he said  'would you buy the cybertruck ? it looks like a tin can with 1995 graphics of toomb-raider angelina jolie triangle boobs. No right ? Even if Rolls Royce made the cyber truck, it would sell 50 units max. Yet Tesla stocks rose after cybertruck. So dont ask me, its like tesla has anti-gravity field around it or something'.

 

So all i know, is that it defies logic, is massively overpriced and therefore, any slide is correction. Ofcourse i could be wrong coz i admit, i am just dehati playing lottery in stocks and trusting my stockbroker coz i know him for a long time.

 

@mishra  see i told u there are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more educated people than me on stock market.I just got lucky coz i follow politics and i can make basic deductions. lol.

There is no certainty in the markets- which can be irrational for long periods of time. 

I personally don’t invest in individual stocks of tech companies - unless the valuation is dirt cheap and there exclusive IP. I prefer investing in ETFs - so that there is no company specific risk.

just remember - till 2007 or so - BlackBerrys were the gold standard / pinnacle of mobile computing devices especially for corporate communications.

This is second proof now i have that you know more than me about stocks - coz you dont buy tech stocks. I have been in tech for 20 years and **I** dont buy tech stocks because as industry insider, i know tech stocks are basically PR and image value stocks with little to no product related valuation.

But since i said, i am dehati seth-ji in investment terms, i do get tempted from time to time by the shiny sparkly tech stocks like Tesla. But i am not white or ABCD Indian, i am desi-born. So i retain my cheap indian-ness as a matter of pride and always have exercised caution with money and checked it out with people like u or my financial planner before taking the plunge.
And i have had 3-4 people of far more expertise than me in stockmarket tell me tesla stock value = gadhey ke galey me soney ka haar.

PS: I used to own blackberry. many of us even WROTE directly to blackberry and TOLD them why Iphone is winning and will win : it came down to Iphone having digital touchscreen keyboard while blackberry kept its old pullout pushbutton keypad and brought out digital keypad very very late, while it was already in terminal death phase.

we ALL loved blackberry for how secure it was. but iPhone's digital keypad offered far faster typing speed and techies like me care a lot about typing speed.

I think Trump will eventually come to deals with all countries barring China and the countries through which China exports goods.

 

its clear that Canada and Mexico will need to levy the same barriers on China as the USA.

I was also reading somewhere that Trump will cut a deal with Modi to reduce the barriers from 26% to 15%. This is a move to force the export oriented East Asian nations to the table with the threat of manufacturing moving to India to take advantage of lower costs. India I suspect will do a deal to buy American oil products to reduce the deficit.

 

If your a multinational, India with 15% and less geopolitical issues even if unreliable power supply , not the best infra (this is improving) looks much better than China with 110% barriers and also a huge geopolitcal issue.

 

At the same time the local Chinese overcapacity will need to find a home. I suspect EU and India etc dont want goods dumped on their shores. They will also raise barriers in one big Game Theory behaviour.
