Gill will take over as captain in all formats. Injury excuse will be cited to keep Bumrah out of the race.

paindu Gill se na ho payega

Even if he becomes he doesn't have that spark or stature to do elite haramipana like his seniors

He is no paindu. He is cricket's Alia Bhatt. BCCI will be his KJo.

Biggest issue in this series is its an early summer series.. ball swings like crazy in June July compared to late july and aug when last series was held. In 2021 london was abnormally hot I remember and except for day 5 Lords all 9 days of test  in Lords and Oval were bright sunshine.pitches had flattened out a lot.. .this time test series starts 22 June with a bit of chill in the air..so beware and be aware. I just hope Siraj gets some swing because if he is back in form he can run through the english like up like he did in South Africa .

I would rather they select Iyer as captain. At least he has shown he worked on his game and improved. Plus is a very good captain and makes the team better.

He isn't a guaranteed starter in Tests. It will take him sometime to get there.

In whiteball, he should be made captain right away in both formats

We have likes of Rohit and Kohli playing Tests for ages. Kohli's performance at no. 4 in Tests has been an average close to 30. I'm more than sure KL will manage to perform a lot better, and he won't run Bumrah into the ground combined with much better decision making.

I say back him across all formats and he'll surprise you. Probably wins us WTC as well with his knack of bringing the team together and making them perform at a higher level.

This england series will be a disaster for Indian batters and paradise for indian pacers. Mark my words, if Bumrah is it, he will average below 10 in England in early June and no one except maybe Yashaswi will average 40 with the bat.

IMO, if Boom is captain, then Yashaswi should be VC because we need a VC that is a certainty in the team moving forward as a bowling captain wont play as much as a batting one.

Bumrah will need to skip at least 1 test in the series to avoid repeating the BGT experience so a good deputy is needed. That needs to be a certainty in the side. Jaiswal and Pant are the candidates and both are unproven in leadership roles but in either is better than an unfit, unspiring Rohit or walking wicket Kohli.

Fortuately with Shami fit and Prasidh also looking better than he has for many years, the bowling will not be completeley dependent on one bowler as it was in BGT.

After today's sublime knock, he should play through the next WTC cycle, at least.

In the words of Bhogle "Rohit Sharma deed Rohit Sharma theengs .. seex seexers."

If you let any batter a free run at the top order without any consequences, I'm sure literally everyone will be able to come up with 2-3 decent knocks in an IPL season.
