I don't even care about the results against them anymore. They are like what BD is to us now. Just make sure we don't slip up. That's it. Otherwise don't care about the result. We have surged way way ahead of them. Their junior cricket has gone to dogs. That explains why senior cricket is in such shape

Easy to fluke in T20Is, also conditions can play a big role like dew or moisture in pitch. May not have a streak like in hockey (where conditions are balanced and predictable), but we should win 90% of our games against them from now on.

Indian players evolve extremely fast and become good really soon before becoming world class by late 20s-early 30s. Yes its is true for Ind batters and its been true for decades. In same its true for Pak bowlers. Pak has lost interest towards test a long time back. And now easiest way and in most of the cases to make to Pak team is through t20 cricket. As mentioned before fast bowlers or bowlers can improve and learn on the job if they have basic skills even bowling at high clicks works. But batting is v.different

Haris Rauf is prime example. His failure has was less due to skill and more due to his arrogance. Clearly they knew that bowling outside off has more chances of working against those 2 left handers. They seemed to have a plan for them also. But still he tried for fast yorkers on middle stump. That's simply arrogance and refusal to learn or adapt because bowling outside off would look defensive and meek. Going of 4-5 runs in an over won't give him personal glory. Obviously there is no guarantee that he would have landed outside off deliveries correctly. He could have ended up giving wides, demonstrating lack of practice or skill. Or batsmen could have smashed outside off ball also, demonstrating their batting capability, but it wouldn't have looked bad as a plan.

Laaloo Posted September 29, 2025 Posted September 29, 2025 And they're not that good either. Look at their power plays. They hardly score more than 50. Their strike rates usually hover around 120-140 at best. Harish Raut is our under-cover agent All jokes aside, you're right. This is actually a habit pretty common in Pakistan, they believe in the hyperbole and fairy tales as in general they're pretty backward society so such hyperboles are used to show your "presence" in the crowd. I mean look at Shoaib, he everytime tells his story of how he used to run in the streets of pindi in hot scorching summers, w/o listening to anyone. That's how he bowled fast. All this started by Imran Khan, that one WC win and that comment of "cornered tigers" actually convinced the Pakistanis that they're the chosen ones and they are above any other individual. Hence, their belief of "My way or the highway" is so widely popular. "Leghandry allrounder Shahid Afridi" is a prime example of how they celebrated mediocrity for 2 decades just on the basis of hyperbole and fairy tales.

What is to say something like that doesn’t happen in Pakistan? Or even a poorer team like Afghanistan?
Lone Wolf Posted September 29, 2025 Posted September 29, 2025 Rauf is a decent T20 bowler as his record suggests. He might be a choker though. Most of Pakistan's bowlers are T20 products thanks to Tape ball cricket. Issue lies in batting with struggling economy and insane level of Jaahlism prevailing the old 80-90's generation which had seen better days getting older and irrelevant things are not going to be better. As @Gollum said they are unlikely to see thinking cricketers like Younis Misbah Hafeez Butt anymore. It's a reflection of the society as a whole The country is full of Jihadi Zombies.. retardation is at absolute peak. However it is a ticking time bomb for entire South Asia.
bsriharsha Posted September 29, 2025 Posted September 29, 2025 T20's to a large extent hide the disparity between both the teams. Add to that the toss factor etc where a team winning the toss more often than not gets a huge advantage. It's in the long form cricket where the differences in the skill set becomes more visible. Most of the Pakistan batsmen won't even get a sustained run in the ranji teams. They might break into the ranji teams but I doubt they'll be able to hold their place for long. Except the likes of Babar i guess might have a decent Ranji career without being in serious reckoning for the senior test team. That's as far as their batting goes. They might bring up some fast bowlers who have the ability to bowl quick but their system will spoil them. I remember Wasim Akram making a point a couple of times (before yesterday as well) that one of the reasons Rauf is a moron is because he doesn't bowl in domestic first class cricket games. That "Pace is Pace Bhaijaan" mindset that the lot of cricketers and their fans have will kill what remains of their bowling stock for good.
putrevus Posted September 29, 2025 Posted September 29, 2025 I don't think they are arrogant. They are just timid which was the case with Indian team in 2000s even when they had Fab five. Indian Fab five with most of them in their prime lost home odi series and could not win home test series in 1999 or 2005. They barely won home series in 2007. Pakistan bowlers were Rana Naveed and Danish kaneria.Indian team should have smashed them into submission based on talent gap . This Pakistan team is horrible, most of them are cross batting sloggers so them losing to India should not be a surprise. If they play 100 times with India. they might win once or twice.Still they competed defending just 146.You have to give them credit.Timidity and lack of common sense costed them the match yesterday.

This is not particularly in terms of any team or Sport but a general outcomes: Till then cricket was armatures' game, no science or study were done mot much or research and most of the things were hearsay and passed on wisdom kind of thing. But as soon as teams starts any game become professional, alot of science , proven knowledge come in. Similar to Olympic sports a lot of sports science is enveloped. There will 1-2 outlier but often a well rounded and robust system works over long period of time. Take Aus they have cricketing knowledge was before any1 else had. Their system hardly produce duds, this may not produce a malinga or a murali but it will always produce a Mcgrath, warn, Cummins etc. Previously batters who were considered hitter would/could only target leg side now with the understanding how power is generated batters are hitting sixes on off-side too. Currently all pak batters still have pak 90s style hitting technique. Mariyam 1

Currently all pak batters still have pak 90s style hitting technique. It's basically cow corner for them. They really don't have any other hitting zone. It's relatively easy to set fields for them. It's like setting fields to Suresh Raina. No disrespect to him , but he really only had one major six hitting area. Edited September 29, 2025 by bsriharsha tapandrun 1

In odis seems very unlikely. Tests will never happen probably but lasting 4 days should be a considered a moral win for Pakistan.

His trajectory is exceptionally low because he releases the ball from well behind the crease , has always had very little control over length and his pace has declined by around 5 kph from his peak. Arrogant or not, it's just a lack of skill/attributes. tapandrun 1
