Team India have arrived in Ahmedabad ahead of their ICC T20 World Cup 2026 Final against New Zealand on Sunday. With the Narendra Modi Stadium not being a happy hunting ground, BCCI have opted to change hotels and even the dressing room for the summit clash. In the last 3 ICC games at the venue, India have lost twice, including the 2023 World Cup Final.

 

As the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Team India look determined to banish the ghosts of the 2023 ODI World Cup defeat to Australia, they have reportedly avoided staying at ITC Narmada – the hotel they occupied during the 2023 final. Instead, the squad has shifted to the Taj Skyline in Ahmedabad to ensure a fresh environment and energy going into the final.

Dressing Room Swap

As report by the PTI, the report suggests that India might swap the traditional ‘Home’ dressing room at the Narendra Modi Stadium for the Visitors’ dressing room, as the former one was the site of the 2023 heartbreak and also the Super Eight loss to South Africa this edition.

@Ultimate_Game @Lone Wolf @New guy @Lord @rangeelaraja @Nikhil_cric @Stan AF @vvvslaxman clear that this venue has gotten into the heads of our players/coaches. 

 

I don't believe in superstitions but our folks wouldn't do all this unless they get negative vibes which is messing up with their psyche. Not good signs especially for a home game.

I hope we only use this manhoos stadium for IPL and meaningless bilaterals from now on :pray:

Its not uncommon and I am sure at some point all have done it.  

 

I remember 2016 game against BD last over before 4th ball I got up to get something for some reason decided to watch 4th delivery for edge of room thinking it will be the last ball of game and we got a wicket. Stood there till won.
