Austin 3:!6 Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Kanpur: Disagreement between India’s Test and limited over captains Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni, respectively, seems to have reflected on the team’s performance on Sundays’ ODI against South Africa.Reportedly, Kohli had a verbal spat with captain Dhoni over his batting order, just before start of the match. As per the reports, Kohli was not happy over his demotion to number four, as he enjoys batting at no. 3. When Dhoni decided to include Ajinkya Rahane in the playing XI, Virat protested, as it would mean change of his batting order. It was during the discussion over Kohli's batting order which ultimately led to a verbal spat between the captain and the vice captain. However, Dhoni denied to such rumours later in the day. After the match ended in a defeat for the hosts, Dhoni blamed Kohli for the loss in a veiled reference.“We lost momentum between overs 34-40 during the chase. We were positioned very well. But I felt around 35-40 overs we failed to get a move on. That would have made things easier," said Dhoni in his post match conference.Kohli and centurion Rohit Sharma were at the crease. Analyst say that it was Kohli’s 11 runs in 18 balls that made a difference to the host nation.India scored only 21 runs in the six overs Kohli was at the crease.Kohli, while talking to mediapersons after the match, criticised the decision making process in the team.“We have been doubtful in our decision making and that shows on the field. I don’t need to say this in an interview, cricket watchers and experts can watch that guys are not sure enough to express themselves properly,” said Vice captain.Cricket experts, on the other hand, have a lot of criticism for both Kohli and Dhoni.India TV cricket expert Chetan Sharma criticised Kohli for his game and said those six overs cost India the match.“If you are not ODI and T-20 captain that means you will not score? There were 21 runs in six overs that cost us the match. Then you blame the batting order,” Sharma said.“I am very unhappy with Kohli’s performance because from Dharamsala to Kanpur, you are playing cricket with your words. You can not win matches with words,” Sharma said while commenting on Kohli’s performance.Dhoni has also faced criticism from all quarters for his captaincy and his performance in the match.Former cricketers including Suni Gavaskar, Mohammad Azharuddin and Ajir Agarkar had a lot of criticism for Dhoni after the loss in Kanpur. http://www.indiatvnews.com/sports/cricket/spat-between-dhoni-and-kohli-cost-india-the-kanpur-odi-18236.html
rkt.india Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Both Kohli and Rohit slowed down in that period. After Rohit had completed his 100, he was feeling a bit too anxious and could not accelerate straight away after that, in his eagerness, he hit too many deliveries straight to fielders though he made up for that slow batting later on but didn't get the support from the other end. Neither Kohli nor Dhoni could sore enough runs. Rohit had to take all the risk and that also resulted in his wicket. Dhoni pushed a lollipop full toss from Tahir for 1 and that was one of the worst batting I have seen recent times. Dhoni just didnt show any intent. Mosher 1
Austin 3:!6 Posted October 13, 2015 Author Posted October 13, 2015 To be honest I agree with Chetan Sharma's comments. Agreed, MSD bottled the chase in the end and blame must go to him but Kohli does not seem to be focussed on his batting emough when playing as a non captain. We saw the same casual stuff in BD and now here. Too much politics is going in his mind which is impacting his batting. Wonder why though? He will anyway get the captaincy, today or tomorrow. Probably there is the difference between him and someone like Sachin who played under skippers who were junior to him. Yet never complained, moaned and just did his job. If Kohli continue with this attitude, I say make Rohit Sharma our next LOI captain. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk adi B 1
Gollum Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 IndiaTV is a joke but playing Kohli at 4 is dumb. He is our best ODI batsman and enjoys no 3, why not let him have that position in stead of accommodating a dud like Rahane(love Rahane the test batsman, in other formats he isn't good enough).
kosingh Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Team India has too many issues. Batting, bowling, keeping. We're in for some extended down years. Yes, I'd like Dhoni gone, but the replacements are equally bad. Yes, I'd like Rahane gone, but the replacements are equally bad. Same with Binny. Bhuvi. Etc. Tough times
Lannister Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 It seems Kohli is in bad patch. So no 4 is suitable place for him, when he get bach his form he can return to his usual no 3 position. beetle 1

gattaca Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Austin to dhonis resuce and quick to blame kohli.
vvvslaxman Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Just replace the name Kohli with Dhoni. It would still make more sense. Spat between Dhoni and Dhoni cost India the Kanpur ODI?
asterix Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Just get rid of Dhobi... He's hanging there as a stinky fart... Mosher 1
amiret Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 There seems to be an inordinate number of -ve press against Dhoni .And most are just quoting anonymous/"reliable"/"informed" sources . Won't be surprised if it was an orchestrated PR campaign . Gollum and beetle 2
beetle Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Virat and Shastri aunty can't wait to have complete control. Virat should worry about his form and lazy run out ,than worry about fighting.
King Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Too much reading between lines... fits a good gossip magazine.
randomGuy Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Dhoni demotes team's best batsman and bats his usual strike rate of 50 till last few overs. he couldnt even give the strike back to rohit w/o wasting deliveries.
Adi_91 Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 If there is an iota of truth in this news piece, then Indian cricket is the loser even if either of Dhoni or Kohli wins this battle of egos.
Jersey #10 Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 Kohli is not going to be the ODI captain at this rate. Rohit Sharma is peaking right when Dhoni is on his way out. I wouldn't be surprised if Rohit was given the ODI captain role.
