Dhoni and His Two Spinner Strategy

I have a feeling Dhoni will retire from ODI's if team loses 5-0.

He will retire from all cricket after WT20.

That's my prediction. I think even if it was not his fault he would be under too much pressure to step down (and probably retire) if result is 5-0 Aus.

Last year India couldn't win any of the 4 tests, ODI's, WC games vs Aus. This year if they get blanked again no way Dhoni is staying. Can't remember Aus losing a game at home now. And I mean any game in any format vs any team at home this season and last.

While I am not a MSD supporter, I don't think 10 Indian pacers + med.pacers would have been able to prevent a 310 (or even 350) successful chase by Aus. Pathetic bowling resources (on batting friendly pitches). Look at discipline of Aus bowlers. Aus will prolly love Rishi Dhawan (and even Hardik Pandya - who knows, though we gotta try him for sure).

Dhoni is right that we dont have a quality pace bowling allrounder , the reason why he was reluctant to pick Binny and now a poor mans binny is pretty obvious . I dont know what matches some of you watch , our three best bowlers in any conditions are Ashwin , Jadeja and Ishant of which two are unfortunately spinners . The lack of seam all rounders ensures that we have to pick both Ashwin and Jadeja .

Pandya is only one who potentially solve the problem to an extent , though his bowling is just alright if he can bat at 6 it will just give us more options with the bowling .

I have lost interest in watching this matches,same old unsuccessful players churning their stuff again & again.Dhoni has no fear of the selection committee. I don't know whey they are not throwing him out of the team. We just can't rest on his  past laurelslaurels.Many great players have come & gone & the game has gone forward. Dhoni has now become old ,his reflexes has become slow he has become too defensive in his tactics.Now if he is not retiring, after this losses he should be thrown out.

Dhoni needs to be sacked ASAP, he is sapping the energy from the team.They might not have won if Kohli was captain but atleast Kohli did not dry his laundry in public and condemned his own. This guy has become judge jury and executioner himself, he is passing judgement on  Rishi Dhawan without even giving him a chance.Today again he bowls Yadav for one over and then removes him, Yadav might have stunk but this captaincy is becoming a big burden on the team.

I am convinced that Dhoni has recordings of every selector in a compromising position. No other reason why he hasn't been removed from captaincy.

Not only do the same bowlers bowl much better under Kohli, publicly disparaging your own bowlers will not get you anywhere. Not having any good bowler apart from Ishant is also Dhoni's doing as we saw what Aaron and Yadav can do with backing.

Not quite impressed with Mahendra Singh Dhoni's batting form in the ongoing ODI series against Australia, former India captain Sunil Gavaskar on Friday said the stumper is "struggling but shouldn't be singled out" for criticism just yet.
India lost the second successive ODI against Australia despite posting a 300-plus score target for the hosts. "He used to be the finisher, India's pride and world's envy but he is struggling a bit now. It is tough when you are not playing regularly, it can affect your performance. But my advice would be to just let him be because he has won India so many matches," Gavaskar told 'NDTV'.

"I don't think we can single him out. I think with the contribution in the last 10 overs from everybody, maybe, India could have had 20-30 runs more but I doubt even then Australia would have won because they won today with an over to go. So I think it has to be a team effort. Bowling and fielding has to be better. At the moment batting is clicking but down the order there is not much contribution," he pointed out.
Gavaskar felt India have failed to find that one "magical" person who can take the team through and will have to bowl with lot more discipline to put brakes on a rampaging Australia in the five-match series.

On pitches where Australia are playing no specialist spinners, and where the India spinners have been moderately effective, captain MS Dhoni feels the only way Rishi can play is if a specialist batsman is dropped, and if that happens, Dhoni said, India will be playing with "six bowlers".

Despite going for 239 in 37 overs for three wickets to outfield catches, spinners R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja are being considered better on hopelessly unhelpful tracks than Rishi on tracks with good bounce. This should come as a strong message to the selectors.

Dhoni was asked if he had given a thought to going horses for courses as opposed to playing his best bowlers on paper. He responded: "If you see what is important is to see that we played the first game with our best bowling attack. In this game, too, Ishant [Sharma] was fit and we thought he will get good bounce. We feel it is important to play with a proper bowling set-up. And at the same time you cannot neglect the batting.

"When it comes to whether we can play the extra seamer, if your frontline three seamers are going for runs, it is slightly difficult for somebody like a Rishi to come in. He may bowl well, but I am saying it will be slightly difficult for him to be successful. He is not someone who bowls very quick. At the same time in the middle overs you need to bowl a lot of dot balls. That's where you have to decide whether you are better off playing with the two spinners.

"The only option you have is, you will have to sit out Ashwin because Jadeja gives you that cushion of batting. It is a difficult one. I still feel 3-2 (seamer-spinner) is the best combination. If somebody was there who could bowl a bit of seam-up, that obviously helps. As of now we don't really have [one]. Next match will be same XI. Only in 4th and 5th match you may see change as Gurkeerat in for Shikhar and Rishi in for one of the bowlers.

Dhoni has lost it. He is going against the selectors and saying they have selected a crap AR who can't bat or bowl well. Which I think is true, but you don't run down your own players in the press. How hard is it for Dhoni to understand? He has already made up his mind Rishi is useless without even giving him a chance to play.

We should take a cue from Aus selectors. They have the guts to drop Ponting when he wasn't doing well. MSD needs to be told that he should either perform or vacate from captaincy on his own rather than being dropped.

This is heights...

I figured out after 1st ODI that chances of winning is much higher if we chase in Ozzie conditions with players that they got. All their batters are much better at chasing... Bailey, Smith, Maxwell, Faulkner. But  our captain is just realizing that now.

Plus, what's up with saying ''it is important to see''... he sounds like he is preaching kids about his master successful strategy.. he has been awful in admitting and rectifying mistakes .. but master in trying to prove himself right..
