I hope team india give him the full srl series to prove his worth, more overs and hopefully more time to bat.can't discard a genuine tslent like that especially when you need a hitter low down.

although that being said ,shami replacing pandya gives another solid bowling option ,its the bowlers who'll win you games

Shami can always come as one of the two fast bowlers...the other one being Bumrah.

We need Pandya for his lower-middle order big hitting ability and some overs also.

I am in favor of pandya tbh,he has the potential and can be a good solid hitter lower order,I don't trust yuvi or dhoni in t20s anymore

well if he is being smashed in Aus, in theory in India which is not pro pace bowlers he is more likely to be smashed.

In which case you will be banking on Raina to cover his quota in the middle overs.

The Aussie pacers, used to these conditions, got smashed in every T20 match to batsmen who are not that used to these conditions.

Tells us how easy the pitches were.

Dhoni is going to be there as the captain...we need to give Pandya a chance to bat up the order in a couple of matches to see if his batting is ready for international cricket.

Hardik is a must. And raina n yuvraj have already given u extra options as bowlers. N our spinner will be far more effective in indian conditions.

Ashwin n jadeja will become quite lethal . Gurkeerat mann is gud backup option.

Pandya at 7 gives dhoni the freedom to play aggressively , now u dnt want jadeja at 7 which doesnt allow dhoni to play his strokes. And he shud be given games up the order specially in SL series.

Our problem area in bowling is lack of wkts with new ball. Bhuvi has been tremendous for us in t20 but he is completely low on confidence.

Also lack of backup pacer in t20, with shami injured i dnt know who ll b our third seamer in squad

We cud include Pathan in Squad as an all rounder , who in some matches can give us flexibilty. Ill also add kuldeep yadav as a surprise weapon.

Heard a lot about Kuldeep Yadav. But not watched him play. What sort of a bowler is he?

What has Shami ever done in t20s?

Left arm chinaman bowler. Should be selected as there are not many left arm chinaman bowlers around. Can be our mystery spinner.

He is the U19 player from 2014. Now I remember. He was good.

From the Pandya interview on Cricinfo : "You have said you could be the batting allrounder India are looking for.
Definitely. I don't feel shy to say that, but I have been selected as a proper allrounder, so my aim is to fit that role. I can still improve my bowling. I have to work on my yorkers and slower balls. I need to get stronger, which will help me bowl quick.  "

Let him play couple of matches in India before passing off any judgement. The one thing for sure is he needs to improve his bowling, he can learn something from Watson's clever bowling previous night.

Honestly, the amount of chance we have given to Ishant Sharma and Yadav, if we can give a little more to Varun Aaron, he might make good use of that in his improvement. I think we should Aaron a longer rope and see what he can do with his speed and length.

Aaron can be a real good plus for us

Yeah Aaron has only played some 8-9 ODI's I think. He is the quickest bowler we have and deserves more chances. But except for test matches, I don't think he is anywhere on the selectors radar for either ODI's or T20's.

Its not Hardik OR pure bowler - we can have both especially if Yuvi is in the team.  Yuvi offers a decent left arm spin option, so you could go with Hardik + Yuvi + pure bowler instead of Hardik + Yuvi + Jadeja.  But this is all on paper stuff, the amount of trust Dhoni has in Jadeja as a bowler is hard to bench.

I think it is because of injuries that he has not played a lot of ODIs. I heard that he has improved on his fitness a bit. So, he should now be a fairly regular member of the side hopefully.

Aaron will be a regular member of the test squad but he is nowhere near the ODI/T20 squad. The last ODI he played was vs SL in Nov 2014, he bowled really quick. Bowled a few at 150K and then got injured (Video below). He needs a good IPL season to get back. But he is unlucky to play most of the matches in Chinnaswamy where edges fly to 6.

A good question by the OP. The decision should depend upon the form (and composition) of the top 5-6 batting positions.

With Dhoni at 6, if the top 5 consists of Dhawan, Rohit, Kohli, Raina and Panday, I like the option of playing a better wkt taking bowler as getting a couple of key inform batsmen out = 20-30 potential runs saved. The idea of playing a Chinaman (or mystery bowler) is good indeed.

At this point - my bowlers would be 5 from - Aaron,  Nehra, Bumrah, Shami, Ashwin, Jadeja, Kuldeep and Mishra .... Will have to see how everyone does vs SL and in Asia Cup

On the other hand, if we are playing Yuvraj, whose batting form I am not to sure about but whose bowling could be utilized, we would need an extra batsman like Pandya. In this case, Raina will have to chip in a few overs too
