Malcolm Merlyn Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 Poor team selection by team India once again as we play 5 pure bowlers,a very poor third rate batsmen wicketkeeper and only 5 batters. velu and tweaker 2
FischerTal Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 rahul is not a good WK, otherwise he would be perfect in that spot.
sandeep Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 I dont think its poor selection. If we end up conceding a big first innings lead then we can talk about it.

Saha is nothing exceptional.I believe we are playing one bowler too many.Rahul in place of Shami. 1 minute ago, sandeep said: I dont think its poor selection. jusarrived Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 I like the idea of promoting Ashwin , infact wanted to see this happen for a while . if he does well we can always go with an extra bowler & the team will only get stronger once saha is replaced by a better bat . tweaker, bowl_out and express bowling 3
Sooda Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 Could argue that its an aggressive move to go with Mishra instead of Jadeja - had RJ been in the batting would have had a bit more depth. Do not know if or how the pitch will favour Mishras spin instead of Jaddus tweaker 1
SLICKR392 Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 Against Windies on a flat deck? It's not a bad idea Ankit_sharma03, New guy and sscomp32 3
express bowling Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 Ashwin plays with a straight bat and is decent against the bouncing ball. Plays at a fast SR and has 2 test centuries...so, not a bad idea if we are playing 5 batsmen only. nevada 1
bowl_out Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 Not bad at all.. Gives a chance to try Ashwin at 6.. It might work out well and he might be the overseas all rounder that we've been looking for.. If anything I'd have played Bhuvi instead of one of the bowlers to strengthen lower order batting.. beetle, Vilander and sandeep 3

velu Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 Kohli prefers this combination. He believes in attacking. He believes his bowlers should be able to defend 300 runs You dont need to see beyond IPL to check how he handles his bowlers [emoji3] beetle, Rasgulla, Ironhide and 1 other 3 1
tweaker Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 Selectors should have selected Naman Ojha instead of some bowlers in the squad to give more options to Kohli.Kohli certainly does not have confidence in Saha batting he will play all four test as there is no back up wk in the squad Ironhide 1
mishra Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 This thread is big . Ashwin is batting better than most of batsman so far. Straight full face of bat and patience. Also he lft the balls which should be left. Detonator and UnknownGenius 1 1
Silva Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 Bk ahead of one of the pacers would give good batting depth. 7,8,9 averaving 20+ makes up for a specialist batsman. Plus u still have 5 legit bowlers. But even binny has more chances of being picked it seems. Not sure why they hate bk so much. tweaker, beetle and UnknownGenius 3
sandeep Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 Yadav better take some wickets this game. Bhuvi is missing out because of him. I think it should have been the other way around. Only reason I can think of is that Kohli wants to invest in Yadav as a long-term project and wants to give him maximum opportunities. tweaker and beetle 2

Bhuvi has nothing to offer on this track and thats why he has been rightly left out. express bowling 1

In ODI/T20's BK is a better bowler but in test matches Yadav > BK. Bhuvi wont be as effective on these slow pitches and he is not very good with the old ball whereas Umesh is a lot quicker than BK and is very good when the ball reversing. Umesh is a wicket taker too. If we are playing in Eng/NZ where the ball will move around a lot, pick BK ahead of Umesh but everywhere else it should be Umesh ahead of BK. Well, lets hope you are right and Yadav takes wickets.
G_B_ Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 No doubt Ash played a great hand yesterday. But I personally think India should play another batsman (Rahul not Sharma) overseas. Saha is not really a reliable batter and neither is Ash. So we do into matches with only 5 proper frontline batters.
