Sammy sacked and dropped from T20 squad

"I got a call yesterday morning, it was probably 30 seconds, from the chairman of selectors telling me that they've reviewed the captaincy of T20 and I won't be captain anymore of the T20 team, [and] my performances have not merited selection in the squad," Sammy said in the video.

"That's ok, I've always believed West Indies cricket is not about Darren Sammy. They are looking to the future and I wanna wish the new captain - I don't know if it's out yet so I won't call any names - all the best as he looks to lead West Indies cricket and take it forward.

"Obviously, throughout my captaincy, winning the two [T20] World Cups has been the highlight. And these memories I will cherish for a long time. This is not me retiring from one-day or T20, it's just me thanking the fans and my players and the coaches I've worked with and WICB for…yea, letting me lead the side for the last six years. But for now the captaincy has come to an end and thank you people.

"I just know I played with my heart and soul whenever I stepped out on the cricket field."

This may be a good decision. Sammy's batting has been underused in T20s as he usually comes in at 8 or 9, and he rarely bowled his full quota of overs. If they phase out other older cricketers and do a full youth movement, they can try to develop camaraderie between the team and smooth out the relationship between the players and the board. The key is for players like Andre Russel to take a leadership role if they get rid of the likes of Sammy, Gayle, and DJ Bravo.

Is the World T20 in SA 2018 confirmed yet?

I hope that doesnt happen..Enough of t20s..India play too many t20s in the year of t20 wc(mostly first 6 months including ipl) and gets nothing..It is the shortest format of the game and anything can happen on your day and we spend 6 months in so called 'preparation'.

The Asia cup was really bad. We won, but the green pitches produced by the BCB knocked Rohit and Dhawan out of form. They both played well in the AUS T20s beforehand, and looked to be in good touch.

Dhoni should retire from international T20s.  His hitting is nowhere near what it used to be or what it needs to be.  ODIs, he's still OK for now.  But T20s would be a good way to ease in the next LOI Keeper for India.

dhoni was never good in international T20s  .. he need to face 10+ balls to warm himself up before he starts smacking the bowlers

he was never good in International T20s. In fact, he became a bit better last year SR wise.

Is it payback for his outspokenness after winning the T20 WC? I hope WI continues to be a top T20 team and not disintegrate like the test team.

After his arrogant press conf...it was always on the cards..

An arrogant player and an equally arrogant selectors...dangerous situation  for WI...
