Smith's captaincy and Australia's downfall

They have now lost two big series. Loss to Sri Lanka 3-0 was a big blow to them. Even though it was away, Lanka gave them a big beating. Now they have lost to South Africa in this series already.

 

There is the plenty of pressure on Smith to resign. I think he will give the captaincy to Warner. What is to come? 3-0 so against Saffers too? 

 

I surely know this that they will now go hard on Pakistan :) who is touring next Downunder.

He has got a team full of FTBs and the conditions they have encountered have challenged them. Probably not much to fault with the captaincy.

Indeed not right to blame Smith. He has batted well even though team has lost. He looked in fine touch in both the innings here, though it is fair to say that his form has dipped since Sri Lankan series.

 

He and Darren Lehman will have to make tough calls. I was just watching the press conference(the video is also posted on Facebook page of cricketcomau) and Lehman has said that every player is going to play the domedtic Sheffield Shield game before the next third test. And based on that, they will decide the players for the third test. Also they will go all out to pick some youngsters and might drop some players from this current game too since they are looking to develop team for the future. I beleive they are pointing out at Voges and Ferguson for sure. Not sure who else might go.

I think the downfall started with MClarke and his big ego. They started to have in-fights like the Pakistan team. Even after quitting Mclarke talks about tiffs with others in the team. They need more sumbitches in the bowling team to rile up batsmen to win matches.

Could be unfortunate to pick on Ferguson the debutante, who got run out in one innings. But Voges and Joe Burns might feel some serious pressure over their places in the team. Voges just looked lost in this Test when the ball started talking. When it wasn't moving, he was Bradmanesque.

Steve Smith is a fighter....clutch player and has all the tools of being a wonderful captain...it is between him and Warner who did a commendable job with SRH even though it is pretty easy when you have a team put together like SRH is.

 

But apart from these 2 there is no other alternative.

 

Smith needs to be backed.

Smith has really become an excellent batsman even with his technique which is so unorthodox. This Aussie team is full of FTBs who have no idea on how to handle pressure.

The amount of scrutiny these guys are coming under is very interesting, our maharishis (Sachin and Co) got whitewashed in 2 series and I do not think they had this type of pressure. Dhoni never got sacked in spite of all those defeats.

^ SRH captaincy is nowhere as complicated and demanding as Australian test cricket team. If anything he has just few more years of cricket left in him. Problem lies in Australian selection and domestic legue which is clearly not inducting enough players at international level

Mishra mere bhai Mishra.....phir se samjhata hoon......only 2 players who are established enough to be captain of Australia right now

 

Smith and Warner

 

Warner's captaincy credentials include IPL championship-Now is that a benchmark to be Aussie test captain...I did not say that and that is a debate for another day.... but I said some amount of credentials. Also no matter what the level of cricket,he was praised for his leadership skills.

 

Smith-COming to Smith he is a fighter and still one of the best players in his team...his team has let him down but he has all the qualities of the leader.

 

Conclusion-Smith should continue but if he keeps failing,then the only option is Warner....why is Warner the only other option you may ask again.....read my previous point about Warner.

When I was a kid Australian cricketers just looked so much older. Moustaches, burly hairy chests and top buttons of shirts unbottoned., rugged faces that looked hardened through years of hard work physical work in the sun. They basically looked like tough hardened truck drivers.

 

The guys now just look like spoiled softies who spend their time getting pedicures, and  thinking about which herbal moisturizers to buy for their complexion and delicate skin tone, and worried about their Justin Bieber hairstyles getting spoiled if they dont use the right hair dryer.

Warner, Smith, Starc and Hazlewood is a pretty solid base for any team to built upon. I think Khwaja looks a class act too. They need to drop Voges and Ferguson though, clear to everyone that both of them aren't just good enough. There are better and young talents in Australia to develop. They'll probably trash Pakistan.

and that's because we weren't demolished like this in any home series. There were no questions asked after losing to 0-3 in Sri Lanka, but questions are being asked after this. Tbf, Dhoni went scotfree after that two horror series. It was ridiculous.
