I rather replace Rohit Sharma with Manish Pandey on no.6 spot in test. Pandey is our regular ODI player now and his batting style might suit that no.6 spot and he will end up taking his good ODI form into test cricket. He averages about 50 in Ranji and has already shown in ODI's in Australia that he can be someone who can play under pressure.

^ agree tics, just talkin abt comparison as Test batsman between the two. We will need a specialist #6 spot batsman (though PP can prolly bat there too, given that #6 will need to play the second new ball as well).

PP is not a #6.

There are no specialist no.6 in Ranji who can be picked for no.6 for India. Batting order changes everytime. People who get into Indian team have to adjust to what is available, regardless of whereever they batted in the middle order in Ranji. Manish Pandey can be adjusted to no.6 for his good performance in ODIs.  Someone who has already played international cricket adjusts faster in test matches  and Pandey has not only played in ODI's, he has actually done well. He can be our perfect no.6 and can be tried against Bangladesh or Australia.

Heck, he can be asked to open the innings to if required.

As I see it...Rohit Sharma's competition is with Jayant Yadav and not Pappu Patel.

Jayant replaced him and has provided the team with a fighting batsman with good technique +  a 3rd spinner / 5th bowler.  With Rohit, it is just a batsman with more flamboyance and less fight at test level.

When we travel outside Asia...Rohit's  competition will be with Hardik Pandya....whether to play 6 batsmen or seaming all-rounder.

My vote is for Jayant or Pandya.

None of them. I certainly don't want Parthiv as a keeper. And he is simply not good enough as a specialist batsman to play him as a batsman only and give keeping duties to someone else. Rohit is Rohit. The less tests he plays, the better.

I would have Rohit Sharma fielding behind the stumps without gloves than have Parthiv keeping....that is the gulf in class of their fielding abilities alone-Rohit 1 Parthiv-0

Parthiv can't bowl and Rohit has this grossly under-utilized off-spin which again I repeat needs to be utilized a lot more...it is world class,so on that basis Rohit 1 Parthiv-0

Batting Parthiv is credible even though he can not win you games singlehandedly....he is a credible supporting act...this is like comparing Amitabh Bachchan in his prime with say Kader Khan...Kader Khan is a good actor and will be consistent and competent but Amitabh will deliver a blockbuster on his own, even raise above mediocre material to make a film a blockbuster..Batting Rohit-1 Parthiv-0.5

Mental degeneration of opposition-Rohit is a master sledger and has the respect and fear of the opposition....there is always a fear factor of what he is going to do....Presence Rohit-1 Parthiv-0

Cricket acumen-Rohit is the captain of one of the most successful franchises in IPL history,Parthiv has been that utility floater...so Rohit 1 Parthiv-0

Overall Rohit 5 Parthiv-0.5 which means Rohit is 10 times the player Parthiv ever will be
