If pitches are going to be decided beforehand and same for the whole season there won't be any "adapting" after first few games.

Seems like a radical idea and can give much more exposure for both bowlers and batsmen. But a few things will need discussions and decisions e.g. how to prevent footmarks on the adjacent pitch during first 2 days. Also how should the first innings lead and related points be changed. Also, will both the teams get limited numbers of overs to bat/bowl? if not, what happens if the team batting first does not get out in the first two days?

 

Wouldn't it be logistically easier to designate half the Ranji venues as green-tops with bounce (to be played with Kookabura) and the remaining as spin-friendly (to be played with SG)? I am sure it would be easier for a groundsman to prepare a certain pitch rather than each of them preparing two types of pitches.

Yes this is better. Half with Kook balls and half with SG and varying types of pitches that teams should play matches on.

Back to back tests home of each side is a good idea. Logistically costly but still good.

What he is suggesting seems a little unimplementable to me. How do you prepare two pitches side by side - one a green top and one a rank turner? Instead, after the first two innings you can just rough up the same pitch and shave off all the grass. 

 

I rather like the other suggestions here to have some grounds prepare greentops and some others prepare turners. Would even like to see pattas mixed in as bowlers should be able to bowl on such wickets. It is not easy to just replicate foreign conditions in India. The soils are different, the weather is different, the type of grass grown is different. All these factors influence the playing conditions.

I think, apart from kookaburra and SG, Dukes will be a welcome addition, it has a more pronounced seam than the two, infact, instead of green tops and rank turner, one pitch we can prepare is a flattish, pitch with something in it for bowler, these have been our nemesis in recent history also since England has been our bogey team in recent times might not be a bad idea to try this in conditions like dharamshala and lahili in winters.

I would have a drop in pitch which takes about 4-5 hours in installing. It can be done over night and be ready for the next day's play.

Ment for future tours program basically India and England can play back to back in India and England respectively.

This is better than the last idea srt had of having 2 innings in odi. Best part about a long format is when the pitch deteriorates....this idea takes away from it. If the idea is to have a deteriorating pitch just on purpose as your 2nd pitch then the games become a lottery. Good intention but will not work.

SG and Duke are similar type of balls and both have pronounced seam. Only difference is the Colors. Duke is very dark red, SG is normal red.

But duke has a more pronounced seam, I think it's harder too.

True. He has never been a great thinker of the game. His thinking is restricted to his batting, bowling rather than team strategy, how to improve team performances, etc.
