vijay50 Posted December 17, 2016 Posted December 17, 2016 140 tests. I repeat Cook played 140 tests in 10 years. England are playing on an average of 14-16 tests per year. This year Joe Root played 31 innings already. Previously it used to be a maximum of 13 tests for England. Suddenly they realized if they increase the tests, Cook will beat Tendulkar. If cook plays for another 5 years he will still be 35 but would have played close to 200+ tests and will easily overtake Tendulkar. BCCI should watch this and do something. Thats the only player who is Pride of India and his record is also gone. Either India has to increase the number of tests played or reduce the tests for England to 12 per year. It would be a sad day when garbage player like Cook overtakes Tendulkar, just because his board is smart enough to play so many tests. Stumped, tweaker, Vilander and 3 others 1 5
Vilander Posted December 17, 2016 Posted December 17, 2016 Lol reduce tests played by Eng hehe Records are ment to be broken. GoldenSun 1
Vilander Posted December 17, 2016 Posted December 17, 2016 What a wierd attitude lol Cook is not the one who is garbage here.. For sure. GoldenSun 1
kosingh Posted December 17, 2016 Posted December 17, 2016 (edited) Except that the English are already calling for him as captain. In a week he will be 32. And at that age once you are out as captain in gora countries, you don't last too long as a player. One thing is for sure, he will not stretch the last couple of years like Tendulkar. That said, if he does overtake Tendulkar, good for him. It would be fully deserved. Edited December 17, 2016 by BeautifulGame Vilander and GoldenSun 2
Trichromatic Posted December 17, 2016 Posted December 17, 2016 A lot will depend on his next Ashes performance in Australia. GoldenSun 1
diga Posted December 17, 2016 Posted December 17, 2016 As other users mentioned, records are meant to be broken and as an opener 11000 runs is no mean feat.. But overtaking SRT will depend on his drive and form. Finally, Ashes will play a big part in deciding the future of English or Aussie players New guy 1

MechEng Posted December 17, 2016 Posted December 17, 2016 Kya re baba.. Cook breaking Sachin's record will be received positively. Did Cricket Australia conspire against BCCI to reduce the number of tests played by India when Merv Hughes commented on Sachin - "He's gonna get more runs than you AB."?
Cricketics Posted December 17, 2016 Posted December 17, 2016 So you are saying that he is going to break the record of playing more test matches? Or total runs or toal centuries? If it is about the number of games, then who cares about number of games played. That is something to be proud of for an individual that he featured in so many games but it is not really great record if you have more games than someone else. If by this thread you mean that he will break other records like total runs etc, then I don't think he will break. His average has dropped way too much.
velu Posted December 17, 2016 Posted December 17, 2016 He cant break sachins 51 centuries is tests , fanboys can relax.. Only way he can break is by arranging multiple test series with Bangladesh like bcci did [emoji3] MechEng and Vilander 2

jf1gp_1 Posted December 17, 2016 Posted December 17, 2016 good luck to cook let him break the record; cook like kallis is so underrated as batsman.
Temujin Khaghan Posted December 17, 2016 Posted December 17, 2016 (edited) dont care if tendulkar's record is broken in 329+ innings there is glory to the achievement only if the record is broken in lesser innings for example if rootie breaks tendulkar's run aggregate record in 300 innings then thats proper glory... whats the use if cook breaks it in 365 innings? it will be like kapil dev breaking hadlee's record in about 50 extra tests. only saving grace was that hadlee played on swing freindly conditions whereas kapil played mostly on spin friendly conditions. Temujin Khaghan Posted December 17, 2016 Posted December 17, 2016 cook might break it or not... but definitely not in less than 200 games/ 329 innings
Sachinism Posted December 18, 2016 Posted December 18, 2016 Is OP claiming ECB increased the number of test matches just so Cook can break Sachin's record? Such a ridiculous claim tweaker and MCcricket 2
rtmohanlal Posted December 18, 2016 Posted December 18, 2016 such a weird topic .Yes ... a lot of Indians would be disappointed if such a thing happens. But for that to happen Cook has to be at his level best in the next 6 years or so and get almost 5000 runs more .And i don't think that will be the case. That means, even if he breaks that no: of 15921 , his avg: would have been dropped by a lot.Another case is that, even if Cook manages to beat Sachin's record by maintaining more or less his current avg:, he as a complete batsman would still be lagging Sachin by many a miles. So what is there to be disappointed? But what ever it be, BCCI to intervene to do something about it is the most hilarious way of thinking about it.

Kapil 'taking extra 50 tests to break Hadlee's record' was a lot better than bottle 'topper' King Khan using bottle tops to attain his bowling avg:s .Atleast in Kapil's case , it was fairplay always
wanted_desi Posted December 18, 2016 Posted December 18, 2016 Hope he does, and also someone breaks Tendulkar's 100 100s record. The way he carried himself in last few years to just get some personal milestones was pathetic. Vilander and Ironhide 1 1
