Why is it that everytime Indian Test Team is strong we dont get to play with Pakistan? Is this the reason of our poor head to head record?

This has happened repeatedly. In late 60s and mid 70s Indian team was very strong outfit.Winning series in England and WI.The four great spinners were bamboozling the batsmen. But India-Pak cricket was suspended.Again when Indian team were number one in late 2000s,there were no series with Pakistan.Indian team is again number one and again no series with Pakistan.

The only time we had cricketing relations with Pakistan unhindered was in 1980s when Indian team was at its lowest and Pakistani were at their peak.

This i believe is the reason of the better head to head record of the Pakistani.

Who cares are about head-to-head records with Pak?

No bilateral series with Pak any time in the near future (even though Pak claims to have it on their FTP), so doesn't really matter.

We did have a strong team when we lost in 2006 was it? When the pitches were all roads but in one of the matches our batting lineup crumbled twice. The series where Dhoni took Shoaib apart in his maiden century.

India was not able to win even their 2005 home series with Best ever batting lineup vs Pakistan's worst every Test bowling lineup...

in ODIs and T20, ind can beat Pak easily but honestly I dont think Ind can win a Test series vs Pak right now anywhere in world... 3,4 Test match series can be something like 2:1 Pak

Ind major advantage vs other teams is their spin+home pitches which can't work that way vs Pak's Younis,Misbah,Shafiq,Azhar + Pak spinners will do somewhat similar on such pitches...

The current Pakistani batting isn't as good as the one India faced before which had Yousuf, Younis, Inzi etc.

Younis isn't the same player any more. Bowling also Pakistan's isn't the same. Yasir Shah is good but I doubt he can trouble Pujara-Rahane-Kohli on regular basis.

I would give India 1-0 or 2-0 in a 3 match series with first test being the closest.

Even if we just agree with you for a second and assume your spinners will get as much success as world no. 1 & 2, your batting lineup is weaker.

The game we lost that pitch wasn't a road. It was a green pitch at Karachi and we had Pak under pressure with 5 wickets for 50 odd before Akmal and Razzaq smashed our bowlers.

Yeah I just have faint memories of a lot of 500+ totals in that series.

Pathan had a hattrick and were 0/3 once but we let them score too many in second innings. Swing had gone and we played just 3 left arm swing bowlers, none of them could seam the ball like Asif did. Zak was the biggest disappointment in that series.

Although the current Pakistan team is more like-able than any previous Pakistan team, their government is dislike-able like any previous Pakistan government.

No, as much as I love watching the current Pak team, there is no way to justify Pak getting ANY financial benefit from India - direct or indirect- given that state sponsored  terrorism depends greatly on funding.

Yeah I remember the hat trick of course. Just thought it was in 2004. They were actually 40 odd for 6 IIRC in that game. Akmal then scored a century.

Just looked up the series scores btw

no, in 2006. He was very poor in first two tests, bowling 125KPH, but last test, he got a green track and in the morning he got banana swing and his first 3 balls got 3 wickets, was bowling at 116-123K. That series had actually started demise of Pathan's test career despite taking a hattrick because he had lost his action and pace.

In 2017, Pak is suppose to tour India. Dont think BCCI will hv any issues with the series as they always wanted Pak to tour India. Its just that playing in UAE/3rd country is a big no from BCCI.

Now its upto PCB...if their ego permits to tour India.
