To hell with Shastri - This is probably the worst Indian side ever, for overseas tours

The numbers are here, just one match drawn & 7 lost while chasing. Forget about winning tests we're unable to draw them, we got bowled inside 70 overs 5 times this year. Worst avg while chasing among all major teams, Kohli & Shastri should hang their heads in shame!

Either all those who are creating such threads haven’t experienced the pain of being an Indian supporter on such tours.

we never used to take 20 wickets and only due to our batting used to draw few matches or maybe once in a blue moon win.

look at it now, we won a test each and were atleast competitive.

I know and agree that we have lost good opportunities so far in all series this year but frankly speaking rhis team isnt the shittest team overseas.

Shi$$iest batting unit in a long time and the worst openers in a very longggg time...

Anyways only old-timers care about tests.. so it doesn't matter for kohli or bcci.. let the tamasha continue...

Test matches should prolly be in evenings and for maybe 60 overs and 6 days.. and market it like a carnival.. great food.. music.. proper mexican waves.. fireworks.. face painting.. caricature paintings.. a beer stand here and there.. dance floor.. It should be a family event for different sets of audiences .... needs to evolve..

We were never ranked no.1 for this long in the past & the likes of SA, Aus so consistently lower than us.

This team is comparable to Dhoni's side post 2011 overseas in respect of lack of resilience.Once the things go downhill, there will be no back to the wall performance. This led from the front by Virat, he could have at least one chase out of so many this year but continuously failed at the crunch. Virat so far has stats but no standout effort overseas even comparable to the one recently by Williamson.

Coming to bowling, I have said before, if Ind loses this series, howsoever good Ishant, Shami and Umesh have been , Ind should move on from them.

Very good idea.

Tests for 60 overs for 6 evenings.

People are very comfortable with watching 40 overs an evening in T20s.  Just 20 more overs would fit in smoothly.

And it must be a party / picnic like environment on the ground ... to attract families and youngsters.

Exactly in test his innings are of no use. He has always failed at crunch situation, i am not blaming him for losses as it's team game, but the kind of batsmen he is, he should have at-least won one or two matches especially when we have bowlers who brought us in to the game during eng and sa series 3-4 times by restricting oppositions.

Dint look like it when virat took over , infact the same set of batsmen had done much better than Fab4 had done on their first away tours .

probably this is our best bowling unit as far as i had seen ..

batting sucks though

if one opener played long enough like vijay did in his earlier tour , our batting might have come good

Bowling is topclass only cos of Bumrah and Shami is not injured . Otherwise its the same old Yadav , Ishant , jadeja , Ashwin , Bhuvi..

Going by that logic this lineup is the best only because they aren't bowling to Aus best ever batting lineup - Hayden, Langer, Ponting, Martyn, Waugh, Katich, Gilly & at one point in time IIRC the top 7 all avg above 50 :hatsoff:

I'm not sure if we played them when all 7 (or 6) avg above 50 but that 2004 series was undoubtedly Aus best batting side ever. If you're (not you individually per se) looking to downplay the achievements of past Indian teams, how about knowing the history & context first?

When we had the batting, we didn't have the bowling to take 20 wickets. Now that we have the bowlers to take 20 wickets, we don't have the batting to put runs on the board.  Shame.

I can't fault Kohli for the players he's backing. Vijay, Pujara and Rahane have shown glimpses in overseas matches and they are also picked exclusively for Tests, so you expect that's where their priorities should lie and they don't have to worry about ODI cricket. Kohli was late to hop on the KL Rahul bandwagon and now he's completely hopeless.

The time is right to try out a new opening pair, but we also need to expect more from Pujara and Rahane who haven't been consistent overseas.
