Kohli batting 6.5/10

Most livewire player on the field - Jadeja - 8.5/10 for effort on the field. By far the best Indian player in terms of fielding. Running around like crazy, diving around, bowling well and scoring important runs.

My ratings - Considering impact, stats and conditions.

Aggarwal - 10 - Will shock many but his inclusion was the series changing move. I have a soft spot for openers as they have toughest job in test cricket. Maturity beyond years.

VJ - 1 - One decent knock

Rahul - 1 - One decent knock

Pujara - 9.5 - Loses perfect score due to average outing in Perth.

Kohli - 10 - I will give the brat perfect score for winning 3 tosses. Kidding aside, 8 as batsman and 9 as captain.

Rahane - 2 - Big words poor productivity

Vihari - 6 - Assured presence. Need to kick on and get bigger scores.

Jadeja - 7 - Bowled as expected, batting is definitely improving.

Ashwin - 5 - Valuable contribution in Adelaide but fragile

Pant - 8 - Average keeping but solid with bat. Had to bat with hopeless tail or would have ended up with better stats.

Bumrah - 10 - The main reason behind India's emergence as a bowling power house.

Shami - 8 - Performed as expected. Hopelessly irresponsible as a tail ender

Ishant - 8.5 - Enjoying best phase of his career.

Yadav U. - 0 - Let the captain down badly on the most bowlers friendly pitch.

Yadav K. - 7 - Give him the cushion of runs and he will run thru sides regardless of conditions. Very excited for him.

Best bowling team of all time

Best fielding team of all time

Batting barring Pujara and Kohli (one innings), rest all were mediocre. Can't even match the batting team of 2015.

Almost the same batsmen that played in 2015 as well. Only difference is flatter pitches in 2015

If you equate 5-er with a 100, it gives you 20 runs per wkts

  • 21 wkts = 420 runs (Lyon has 21 wkts too)
  • 520 runs = 26 wkts  (Next highest scorer in the series from both sides, who played in all 4 tests, is Pant with 350 runs)

Therefore, while both Pujara and Bumrah performed great, I have put Pujara in Level 1
