I think he is able to do well in atleast one department. Also a solid fielder. His big hitting ability is a wild card for India.  He is shaping up well.

I would give Pandya till end of this year, after the odi series against Australia and few more serie, probabaly after the saf tour next year may be, to judge him as a player, in partcular his batting ability.

Defo not bowling though... he is supposed to be batting allrounder

He is a clean hitter,has done well with the ball and a brilliant fielder what more do u want?

What more do I want? I want a youngster who can do well in the field, which Pandya seems to have done well despite regular dropped catches on his own bowling recently.

 

All rounder is someone who can bat and bowl well, and Pandya seems to be doinng bowlinf fine but batting still needs to be checked.

 

 

I want a youngster who can score under pressure which Pandya showe ld against Pakistan in CT but yet to show that he can stick it up and take pressure and win it for India in even tougher situations or like today where he needed to stay on thw wicket with Dhoni to win the game.

 

 

Since he has been more than decent, I am not wanting to remove him. We are in 7th month of the year, and hence I said I would give him a longer run till the end of this year and even more after the saf tour next year to see how he is s doing with the bat and also if his bowling is all right.

 

 

Until then he is part of our weak tail since he is a hit and miss player with the bat. So if Dhoni continues to play slow and yuvi and Rahane, then his hit and miss game will make our tail look longer than what it is. 

 

I like his energy on the field as he is someone who gives it all but I wouldn't hype him and would wait for another 6 months to see how he is doing. Till then, he needs to be backed and I am sure Kohli will, but I will contnue to log his performance both good and bad here.

He scored 13% of the required runs and took important wickets. His batting and wickets numbers till now show something we haven't seen since kapil dev retired. Cut some slack for him.

He has been doing very well with the ball.

Hardly gets a  chance to bat. 

He was the only one fighting with the bat in the ct final.

I said this in another thread also - they should send him up the order once in a while to give him an opportunity to play longer innings and improve his batting.

Top order is always to blame if you can't chase 180 but I would also blame Dhoni and Pandya too for not finishing it off.

 

 

Don't want to be harsh on Pandya but since he is playing as a batsman who can bowl, basicaly a batting all rounder as most call him and think, then he should start winning us this games or finishing these games. 

 

 

 

 

Blame Pandya, only guy who was looking to win the game and not draw it. He had to take risk and got out in that process.

Everyyone part of the balme whwn you lose if you haven't scored much. Kohli and Rahane and Dhoni bigger culprits and other bats but so is Pandya.

 

If you play cricket for your team and you blame just one guy for defeat then it is absolutely wrong.

 

I play crrently and hence speak from that point of view. For me the whole batting line up together lost the team the game. And Pandya is part of that batting order.

Have said many times especially if you have 100 odd target left to chase etc,  just send him early, he can get the experience to bat early.

Even though Pak dont have many options in their batting, I like their attitude when it comes to selection and giving opportunities. They just throw in players at the deep end and ask them to perform or perish. Sometimes you get a talent which is worth twenty other duds. 

 

Indian team is a lot more conservative and have a tendency to keep picking the same players again and giving them the same roles, not being adventurous or think outside the box. Pandya or Jadhav could have been promoted up the order in this series but didnt happen.

 

I thought Kohli will be different but he is pretty much the same. Aggressive exterior with conservative mindset.

Kohli has been a poor captain in the last few series including CT in terms of selection but I am going to give him time as my memory is not short and I am very familiar with how every captain has done the same and how most captains will continue to do the same at start of their tenure or in the middle. 

 

I feel Kohli will eventually get better and give youngsters chance soon as we come near the end of this year, and that all said I am still disappointed by him at this time forr not trying Pant and co uptill now.

+ He will only get better when his friend and influential  figure would be out of the team, If anyone thinks he doesnt understand the issue is in dellusion. He is just to stubborn and arrogant to acknowledge it.

one good thing kohli has done is making pandya a permanent fixture in the lineup,i give him credit for that.pandya is now both trustworthy bowler n batsman,not a bits n pieces player.now time to introduce other pandya get ridof bits n pieces jadeja

Pandya has to do more to be billed as an all rounder though. He needs to put a price on his wicket as a batsman and do the job that's needed for the team at times and not just try to hit boundaries. Let's see if he can grow as a batsman and not just a hitter. Bowling wise, he has been doing a very good job.

well this series was great oppurtunity to try him as a batsman at upper middle order but again wasted but i always thought he is more of a batsman who can bowl,so his bowling getting better is a major plus

our side lacked a lower hitter for so long and i think he has filled the role perfectly,now we need someone like pant cementing his spot and other pandya getting oopurtunity then most of our odi flaws will be covered

Okay next time if dhoni scores 85* with only 4 wickets down, pls give credit to jadhavs pandyas jadejas a share in the victory even if they didn't get to bat since it's a team game

His experience is 10 times to the combined experience of jadhav and pandya. He should have finished it yesterday. Pandya jadhav are still novices at this level

I would say he has done decently, nothing more.
