What do you make of Guha's mail and accustions?

The major summary of his letter is

Quote

1.Conflict of Coaches

Guha was unhappy with the system where national coaches are contracted for 10 months a year and then go away for IPL duty. Rahul Dravid, R Sridhar, Sanjay Bangar and Bharat Arun are examples of coaches who are, or have been, part of the support staff of both national teams and IPL franchises.

2.Conflict of interest of commentators
Guha said Sunil Gavaskar was a BCCI-contracted commentator and the director of PMG, a player management company, which has Shikhar Dhawan, Rishabh Pant and Sarfaraz Khan on its rolls.

Without naming possibly Sourav Ganguly, Guha wrote: "One famous former cricketer is contracted by media houses to comment on active players while serving as President of his State Association."

3.Superstar culture in awarding national contracts
Even though the new contracts rewarded Cheteshwar Pujara's Test performances, Guha also noted: "As you will recall, I had pointed out that awarding MS Dhoni an 'A' contract when he had explicitly ruled himself out from all Test matches was indefensible on cricketing grounds, and sends absolutely the wrong message."

4.Superstar captain

"Surely giving senior players the impression that they may have a veto power over the coach is another example of superstar culture gone berserk?"

5.Poor payments for domestic cricketers
Domestic cricketers end up making about INR 1.4 lakh for a Ranji Trophy match, but they are paid only INR 10,000 upfront. The balance is often delayed.

"There are many more Indian cricketers who make their living via the Ranji Trophy than via IPL; besides, for us to have a consistently strong Test team (especially overseas) we need a robust inter-state competition and therefore must seek to compensate domestic players betters,"

6.CoA complicit in Champions Trophy pullout threats.

Guha did not spare the CoA for its inaction until the last minute when the BCCI delayed the team selection for the Champions Trophy because they were unhappy with the outcomes of the ICC meetings.

Find the whole letter absolute bullshitting nonsense.

His job was to advise COA on the intricacies of Indian board and domestic structure to CoA and Vinod Rai .That is the remit of Guha.Vinod Rai himself mentioned that few days back.Heck the remit of CoA in itself is implementing Lodha reforms .

Where does the appointment of coach and contracts to players come into that ?What qualification he himself has in to talk about the performance of judging on Indian captain and advising on it.He is a historian not an administrator.

The only point agreeable is about payment structure for domestic cricketers .But even then he is full of hypocrisy considering his lecture about how BCCI should share its revenue with rest of world during ICC fight. The same revenue which is being used to play Indian cricketers.

Guha made a couple of good points, along with some overly utopian ones.  But his resignation is a classic example of "those who can't do, preach".    Some people are only good at pontificating, and can't get it done themselves when it comes down to it.  He had an opportunity to be one of 4 voices in charge of cricket.  Why wasn't he able to effect the change(s) he desired?

Like it or not, when you are leading an organization of this size, you are going to have to make some deals and compromises.  If he felt so strongly and cared about Indian cricket, surely he could have kept working at it, and pushed things along in a better direction.  Instead he chose to wash his hands off, walk away, and now is trying to be the martyr-hero.

Point no 3. Guha is done on ICF. :phehe:

That's the most stupid thing of all.

Regardless of Dhoni is involved or not.

This test cricket is the be and all belongs in the 80s mentality.

Say if Bumrah develops of this trajectory for another year as limited overs bowler. Then he will be just as important as Pujara or any other test specialist even if he never plays test cricket for us.

@Khota  @TheWall

Talk is cheap.  Why resign?  Why not do something to effect the agenda he lays out in the email?

Because he was getting out numbered against other three members of CoA.

The timing of this letter itself is enough reason for me to not believe him. All that is happening is because SC abused its power and created another another power center against BCCI. Even though there is lot of wrongs in BCCI, I cannot fathom how some random people (COA) are trying to create their own veto powers. If this continues, players and coaches and everyone associated with the game will always be divided on issues pertaining to Cricket and its administration. I see more mudslinging in future as everyone will pick their sides depending on their bias and favoritism. Hope everyone behaves maturely and resolves it behind the scenes like it should.

So he is somehow the only person of integrity now.  Even the likes of Diana Eduljee etc are corrupt.   Ego and arrogance are vices not limited to the corrupt.   Even self-righteous blowhards can succumb to it.  Especially Self-righteous blowhards.

if the guy feels so much he should perhaps stick to coa and do something about it. if he runs away he does not get to be a hero. And no please dont try to hire everyone from Karnataka..regional minded little person.

You seem to have a lot of hate for kannadigas ? You keep bringing this up . Stop accusing others of being regional minded at least in that case
