The importance of wicket-taking bowlers and wicket-taking lines and lengths in LOIs

We are seeing in the 1st ODI vs Australia how Coulter-Nile is bowling wicket-taking lines and lengths , bowling out-swingers and picks up 3 wickets in his 1st spell. It is the best way to control runs and win LOIs. We saw the same thing in CT 17 final. 

 

In CT 17,  we chose all the specialist bowlers based on low economy rate. Only Bumrah had a high wickets per match ratio.... and we lost. There was no Shami or Kuldeep.

 

It was good to see us realize this mistake regarding the spinners.  Kuldeep has come in and Ashwin and Jaddu rested / dropped. We are trying multiple wrist spinners too.

 

But we need to find pacers who can take multiple wickets in their first spell with a certain regularity.  Shami fits the role perfectly when in the team..... but he can't be played often enough as he is injury-prone and we need him for test matches as a matter of priority.

 

Bumrah has improved in terms of bowling aggressive lines and lengths in his first spell.... as we saw in Sri Lanka.

 

We need to find another new wicket-taking pacer for LOIs..... someone who bowls those wicket-taking lines and lengths in his first spell ( targets the top of off-stump and channel punctuated by surprise bouncers )  instead of defensive lines and lengths.

Our selectors are just happy selecting within a certain group of players.

Whenever there is opportunity they always select Axar,Ishant,,Dhawal.They dropped Shardul after playing him in only 2 games.

They should have selected young Pacers ie Rajpoot, Chaudhary by now

Bowl a fuller length if ball is swinging.

The 2 wrist spinners ripped through the Aussie middle order to win us the match.

 

Looks like Axar's unavailability was a blessing in disguise.  We could play 2 wicket-taking spinners.

 

We need to persist with this duo.

 

Bumrah was able to pick up a wicket in his opening spell too, and we need wickets at at the beginning.

 

Pandya's knack of picking crucial wickets in the middle is heartening.

We need to find out who will be our 2nd seamer who is best suited to compliment Bumrah. Kumar at best can hold the role of 3rd seamer, who may come in handy when we play in overseas conditions.

Aussies paid price for playing Faulkner who is a weak bowler. When they have stoinis as alrounder, they must play a specialist 3rd seamer.

did u see what bhuvi was bowling even with swing in his first over...pathetic was bowling back of length with swing instead of good length.....he hasnt got edged an batsman since 2016........filthy low iq people still rate him as best indian bowler...averages 40 from 2016.....i thought u had good knowledge of game and will point it out ...but i was wrong
