CoverDrive
needs some couple of meaningful overseas wins to be considered here. It is a big zero right now for Ashwin. I think he has the potential so lets see how he shapes up Link to comment
Ankit_sharma03
Havent seen bedi prassana chandrashekhar But bhajji vs ashwin- ill always choose ashwin Ashwin is an intelligent cricketer with a sound temperament who i beilve will come good overseas and i think he still wud return to LOI format Vilander 1 Link to comment
Vilander
Ashwin picks wickets in bulk one feature that i like in him. Overseas tours are an issue for him as current scenario needs him to do that. But he is amoung the finest already. Link to comment
sergio04
ashwin thrasing will start from s.a tour he is pujara of bowling. Jimmy Cliff 1 Link to comment
Nikhil_cric
He's an offspinner who doesn't chuck. The modern game is particularly harsh on bowlers in general and offspinners in particular. Unless there's some assistance in the wicket or a few left handed batsmen, he's not gonna be very effective. Gollum
Behind Bedi and Kumble as of now. As an overall cricketer he may even be better than those 2, pretty sure he will end up as a Hall of Famer one day. If we use him intelligently in the overseas assignments he will contribute in our victories, with bat/ball. The Dark Horse 1 Link to comment

But yea the guy was ruthless against spinners specially off spinner Link to comment

I havent seen others and kumble as of now is ahead for me so that was the only debate left . That makes ashwin after kumble for me n again i say as of now . U never knw Kumble became a diff bowler in overseas post that 2003-04 tour down under , u never know what ashwin ends up achieving Link to comment
sandeep
Needs a couple of successful away series. I also don't much like the fact that he usually needs to bowl a lot before really hitting his rhythm. Top shelf bowlers shouldn't need to bowl 10+ overs practically every innings before finding their groove. Link to comment
wanted_desi
Tours of South Africa/England and Australia will determine where he stands. Link to comment

He would have won India a series in SA if other bowlers did something. Bhajji won test against WI when they were still strong. Bhajji was awful in Australia, England and Pakistan. Ashwin has been bad outside Asia he has chance to become best spinner from India if he helps India win in SA and Australia. Link to comment

Of the Indian's I've seen, Asherwin is behind Harbajhan and Kumble - 2 great bowlers. Never had the pleasure of watching bedi mishra 1 Link to comment

HippoSucks
Ignoring players from when cricket wasn't competitive (like Verity and Rhodes), Bedi is the best left arm spinner ever, even ahead of Underwood. Ashwin can't even be compared to him right now. Once he finishes his career, I think Ashwin will just be behind Bedi and Chandra. I can easily see him go past Prasanna and Venkat, maybe Kumble as well. Link to comment

Shukla asked him that , why during his playing days his place was always cemented in the team & Pras, Chandra & Venkat used to be in & out of the team? Bedi often shoots from the hip, but at that moment he was unable to give him a proper reply. Perks of being a skipper I suppose. SK_IH 1 Link to comment
