Finger injury leaves Parthiv Patel sweating before SA tour

Gujarat skipper Parthiv Patel hurt the middle finger on his left hand while keeping wickets during the ongoing Ranji Trophy quarterfinal clash against Bengal at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Sunday (December 10).

 

 

Few minutes before the Lunch break, Parthiv winced in pain and fell on the ground after unsuccessfully collecting the ball behind stumps. He left the field rightaway and did not return for the rest of the day. Anuj Rawal came in as a substitute and kept wickets for Gujarat for the rest of day 4.

 

 

"He got hit twice or thrice on his finger and it was hurting badly. Not sure what the update is on his injury though," Manprit Juneja, Gujarat batsman, said at the end of day's play.

 

 

Head coach Vijay Patel, however, confirmed that Parthiv, who has been selected as the back-up 'keeper for India for the upcoming Test series in South Africa, has suffered only a minor injury and it wouldn't take too long to heal.

I want pant but bcci never want to debut a batsmen away in tough conditions. So sadly it will be DK.

Karthik actually has done well in SA and Eng previously, in 2007 England he was terrific...one of the primary engines behind our series win back then. Still let us hope Saha doesn't get injured.

pant has a poor technique.

dk and parthiv are below avg keepers.

 

is there any top quality keeper who also has a solid batting technique?

DK and Parthiv are basically equivalent picks, all things considered.  Although I would rather see aapdo gujju boy in the test squad instead of upsetting Mr. Wife Stealer.

Samson and Pant have better FC records than what Dhoni had when he made his test debut for India. Do you want 50 test average WK/bat?

Didn't dhoni get into the test team on odi success?

 

Samson never had a 'very good' first class season. Also he do not keep in first class matches I guess.

 

Pants technique never impressed me.

 

Its not about 50 avg. Its about 'all condition' players. Someone who can put bat to ball on durban as well as chennai.

 

Solid technique is a basic criteria for test batting.

Samson is having quite a good FC season. You are here expecting Samson to have big FC seasons like a batsman while he is a wicket keeper. Same with Pant. They are not specialist batsmen.

Dk is not the wife stealer.

If you mean upseting vijay...

They have both played together since for TN and I think ipl too.

Dk has a new wife and vijay is onto kid number 3 .

 maybe that's why he is selected in ODIs. Prob even Tests now.. selector uncles feel bad for him.
