KL being dropped is a non issue . You dont play the guy in T20s and ODIs , people will just forget him . its that simple . The most imp thing for KL is probably a good IPL season , unfortunately its come to that . I hope he gets picked by some team that values him . Kohli has screwed him enough as captain.

Austin 3:!6 Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 No sir , we where just bad on that day . VK plays to win I wouldnt question his integrity, hes just emotional which is his weakness . Indian team did not even practice properly and Kohli was in a meeting with CAC regarding coach issue just 1 day prior to the game. It was reported in the media as well. Anyway since there is no proof...so lets leave it at that it was a bad day. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk Laaloo 1

RCB will retain Rahul for sure. Otherwise he will be hot property in auction because KXIP, RR, DD will be in hunt for good players.

Can you give any other example where a proven performer, in-form batsman is dropped? What you are thinking of cases where worse players have replaced average/half decent players. But I can't recall any other case where a player after such performances is dropped. Same thing happened with Pujara. Kp top scorer for England in away ashes series . Never played for England again

I have never seen this happen in Indian cricket . These are not marginal calls where a captain can have a preference . All these guys are pretty close to Virats class or better in Test matches . He tried that and did not get good result and he backtracked his move. Isnt that a good thing? I agree that constant chopping and changing of the XI and even playing different batsman at different position every few games will always play with the mindset of the batsman and harm their performance. But again, Kohli is destroying someone career is just too much to fathom. Kohli is not the best of the captain, but he is not some evil person conspiring against Rahul which is being portrayed by everyone here. If he is not given chance after we lose games in 2018 then its fair to ask for Kohli sacking. Also Rahul has become like second coming of Bradman with the hype on ICF. Hope he performs and live upto everyone's expectations. I dunno what kind of meltdown we might see on ICF if he fails in SA or Eng.

Here Rahul is a talent, potential proven young performer.

Poor players finiding place in the team. But top performers struggling is something new and completely unheard of. There is a difference between dragging failures and booting out best ones.

I dunno what kind of meltdown we might see on ICF if he fails in SA or Eng. don't think people see him as the saviour. he has tendency towards rash shot selection, and he plays away from his body often and doesn't leave as well as vijay does. I think people see him as far better than Dhawan (I do) and are therefore justifiably angry at his non selection.
Lannister Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 The thing with Virat is he has this close group of friends with in and off the field and can be easily influenced by those people. And also there is always the case of some bias towards Hindi speaking players when the whole management and the squad is filled with them. Although they look untouchable when the team is winning, but if they start to lose that is where the fun begins. But the sad part is it will come at the cost of another overseas tours. But I still have some hopes in Kohli that he will take proper actions even before it reaches that stage.

But the yardstick is clearly different when it comes to certain players. If Pujara had a run against Australia like Kohli did, you can bet he would have been dropped for Rohit a while back already. If we are considering 6 batsmen in SA, Rahul deserves to be played ahead of Rohit. And its pretty much a black and white situation, there are no shades of grey there. Pujara cant afford to fail in a single series. he will be dropped immediately.

But the way he was laughing around with Pak players after he & his team got bitch slapped in the finals made me wanna punch his face. I was sad after the finals but when I saw that scene, I lost my cool. Sure, one can have good relations with Pak players but joking and laughing around after losing a final........PATHETIC. I have friends who get inside info. However it's hard to gauge to what extent politics plays in team selection as everyone's image and reputation is on line. It's like this: If you piss people off but you are undroppable, then no one can do anything to you. However if there is a valid reason (even a semi valid reason), you can get booted out. For example: 1. Ashwin paid the price for talking smack about Dhoni's captaincy in SA. He was dropped for NZ series (justified) but wasn't picked in England even though opposition had like tons of lefties. 2. Ashwin and Saha have openly supported Kumble. The former's viewpoint wasn't appreciated by Kohli I was told recently. Add to the fact that Ashwin again talked about Dhoni to Kohli which didn't go too well with the latter. 3. From the bonding players have, I always got the feeling Ashwin, Pujara, Rahul and Saha were one set. Dunno about others. It's possible Rahul was in Kumble gang which pissed off Kohli. 4. I have read reports that Kumble wanted Kuldeep to play in 4th test which Kohli wasn't too keen for it. We always see Kuldeep making way for others (Axar....seriously?) every now and then. 5. Rohit gets promoted for test cricket every chance they get. All of the moves (except Rahul's case) can be explained away cos people who run the Indian team are smart and know when to do what. They won't make it look obvious though. All this might look like conspiracy theories (maybe it is as half truths can be misleading) but what appears outside may not be what really is happening inside. For example - Inspite of what Dhoni does when it comes to player management, as a person, I heard he is a nice guy. Ashwin for all the intellectual talks he gives to media, can be an A grade brainless moron at times. So you never know. The best way to tell a lie is to add its from reliable source. All the points u have raised had cricketing reasons. 14 hours ago, Austin 3:!6 said: I stil believe (and also opened a thread here) that Kohli & co intentionally drop the CT Final match to boot Kumble out.
