Brainfade
Technical flaws, easily fixable, have not been addressed in 3 years Reading Cullinan's comments, it is obvious that our coaching staff has not been taking slip-catching seriously for 3 - 4 years. Sridhar coached under Kumble too, so no point in pointing a finger at Shastri alone. It seems like a systemic problem. The lipstick on the pig starts to wear off when familiar conditions don't exist anymore. UrmiSinhaRay, Dada's Army, nevada and 1 other 1 1 2 Link to comment
kira
This is a criticism I fully agree with, how can you have such a mediocre and pathetic slip cordon for so long, it's like they didn't even try to improve their catching despite knowing how sh!t they are UrmiSinhaRay 1 Link to comment

chewy
“A little worse than 50-50 - under 42% caught, before this series - is exactly what India are when fielding at slips and gully to fast bowlers over the last four years.“ that is bloody poor UrmiSinhaRay, beetle and Gollum 1 1 1 Link to comment
Gollum
Excellent article, what is Sridhar even doing with this bunch? With so much $$$$ can't BCCI hire someone better than this buffoon, apparently Shastri also favours him . According to this article, last 4 years before this series our success rate in slips and gully against the quick bowlers is 42% , damning statistic !!! Why is Kohli unwilling to accept that we have a serious catching problem? Before the tour a reporter pointed this out and Kohli showed his passive aggression, this is heartbreaking stuff for our bowlers. maniac
I called this long back and how many catches have been spilled since. Teams like WI and SL will lose 9/10 times even if you give each of their batsman 3 lives each. The big teams at home will not hurt you because the spinners will gobble them up. gattaca
Lol you guys point fingers at coaches when we loose. The problem is with cricketers do you really kohli , Dhawan will listen if they are told you guys need to change technique. These guys are with big egos don’t care for anything. diga
Fielding drills also need to build muscle memory and improve the stance for anticipating catches.. I am not sure Sridhar is familiar with those techniques. We have not seen much improvement in catching in his tenure. Better to move on beetle and UrmiSinhaRay 1 1 Link to comment

beetle
Either he is incompetant or has no authority over the players as a coach. Either way.. It is not working. Our fielding is a huge minus for the team. Edited January 23, 2018 by beetle UrmiSinhaRay and Dada's Army 1 1 Link to comment
rkt.india
VVS Laxman was telling how Bob Simpson was hired in late 90s to help them with slip catching and he and Dravid got benefited a lot. Simpson was a top fielder of his time. GoldenSun, nevada, Dada's Army and 1 other 1 1 2 Link to comment

chewy
What’s happening in Ranji? Are catchers that bad too? Unfortunately these skills never come to the fore IPL as hardly anyone fields in slips UrmiSinhaRay 1 Link to comment
Kohlifan
Its more about anticipation then skill, Slip catching to me is like an art, which you can not forcefully learn. Kohli Rohit all are very good fielders but not best slip catchers. UrmiSinhaRay 1 Link to comment
BeautifulGame
We should hire Hayden or Graeme Smith as specialist fielding coach for tests and drill these guys about slip fielding. Obviously nothing of that sort will happen and it will get only worse when we go to England and Australia. UrmiSinhaRay 1 Link to comment
