Why do you think dk gets selected as dhoni's backup instead of a pant or a kishan ? You are right about kohli being all powerful. In case of Poor Pant,it is a double whammy. Both kohli and dhoni don't want him which is a shame. That is what everyone is saying. Pant ( or any other younger keeper) is not selected because kohli and dhoni keep him out. Pant is a bigger threat because he is a charismatic player.....a probable star. He may not be the most talented but has enough of it + star power . He left captaincy since more than a yr in LOIs and 3 yrs in Tests. He is just becoming a soft target because of people hating on him here. Just because nobody has guts to say anything against Captain/Coach and their favs, they will always look for soft targets elsewhere. Today its Dhoni, tomorrow it will be someone else. Same thing for people on ICF, its a fact nobody can do anything about Kohli. Everyone will have to accept it and move on. Since Dhoni is not in Test team, there are no soft targets. Pant is not even considered as 3rd or 4th keeper in Test matches. That shows what they really want. Link to comment

Am saying there is general discomfort in giving a youngster a chance for any spot in any format . Pants case is no different . Yes indirectly the seniors do benefit , but the blame is on virat though. It's definitely his call in the end . Link to comment

Cricketics Posted January 28, 2018 Share Posted January 28, 2018 I am against the idea of leaving out Raina Not picking Pant is wrong, but leaving out Raina is equally wrong since Raina has been our best T20 player for a long long time and even in his last series he scored runs when Kohli and Robert Sharma and co were struggling. Raina is a must for any Indian t20 sidee. Raina did not take Pant’s slot. Pant slot should be made anyway instead of picking guys like Karthik, Rahane etc. Lets not mix the two.
