Rohit Sharma can accelerate right from start, but he chooses not to

Yesterday while chasing a big total, he didn't take time to settle in. We were 60 in 5 overs.

While batting first he will take time and waster powerplay.

Clearly it's intentional and team strategy. Should team ask Sharma to go bang bang right from start all the time or current method is good enough?

Intentional : hell yeah!

Team strategy : Dont think so. They just allow Rohit to do whatever he wants.

BTW Rohit would not be successful in ODIs if he is asked to go bang right from the start. He will get out below 30 most of the times. IN t20s fast 25-30s are useful too. So wouldn't be a big deal in t20.

I will tell you the reason. While batting second, it's easier to do that from the start because you already know how the pitch is playing. That isn't the case batting first. You are uncertain about the pitch and more circumspect. This is the reason most teams prefer chasing in T20s.

I think this is the first time Rohit did anything useful while chasing.

You forgot Aus series 2013. 141 in one of the matches chasing 360.

But all the other teams are able to do it

may be if he is challenged to go bang bang in t20s he might invent an other gear totally for ODI.. imagine that. agreed in flat tracks but still.

Rohit has a problem with moving ball hence needs time to settle, yesterday no such problem hence he went bang bang from first ball.

point is him being encouraged to do this in flat tracks in ODI as well..that will be nice..lol a 250..

he mostly does it batting first when you dont know how the pitch is going to play so he is circumspect.

every batsman struggles against moving ball.

One of the main reasons we have been extremely poor at setting totals for few years now . None of the openrs around the world have this problem , infact Dhawan who plays along does not have this issue of not knowiing how the pitch will pan out ..somehow its only sharma whos "circumspect"

its all about scoring hundreds and boosting personal stats

As for OP , no I dont think so . if he tries to do this consistently he will fail , not that he has any intentions to continue like this anyway now that his spot is secured for another 50 matches .

This was him being desperate to hold on to his spot as the likes of KL have been performing and I think with Prithvi shaw doing well and being from Mumbai , thats another big threat .

False. Ind vs Australia 2015 world cup chasing 328, Rohit Sharma: 34 from 48 balls. This from top of my head. Can dig more matches if I have time. Chasing or batting first Rohit Sharma's batting remains same.
