Why do most of Bollywood stars speak English?

One of the FEW advantages India has, in this global market, is our ability to speak English. Dude. I am pleasantly surprised that i can agree with a left leaning liberal i am guessing you are one( not expecting you to respond to this). I am a right leaning centrist and often find left self defeating in their opinions.

It's not just Bollywoodiyas, it's an India problem of the sepoy class of people fawning over anyone who speaks English.  They will invent all kinds of contrived reasoning of why English is some magic language.  

 

Pro-tip, if you want to trigger this class of people, just make fun of their English. This lot feel like insults to their English is a worse insult to them then abuses to even their mother/father

i usually get along best with 'leaners' - left leaning preferrably, but right after, are the right-leaning ones. Because by definition, if you are true to yourself and a left/right leaning person, it means you are more or less a centrist, not a blind mouse following leftist/right wing propaganda over everything, but overall your preferences fall one way or another through study, analysis and preference. This could be the reason. Hindi isnt a native language for many Indians. They will deliver the lines given to them for the movie but to speak live without a script might be a bit intimidating for these guys.

Agree with you there. That could be the reason as Hindi isn't their Native Language but somehow English is. So fair enough for them to give interviews and promote movies in their Native Language which is English.

Bollywood is probably 95% people from North India. What native language acc to you they speak?

He's being sarcastic. There are some Bollywood actors who can't speak good English no matter how much they try and the main example is Shahid Kapoor.

Obviously English isnt their native language but if they studied in English medium schools and spoke some dialect at home as kids their Hindi could end up being pretty poor. 

 

They would probably prefer speaking broken english on television than poor hindi simply because less people will be able to call them out on it.

That would expose them. Look at Amitabh. He does interviiews in Hindi. remember how KBC became flop with Shahrukh khaan.

Bhai, BB language is more about too too main main. Its viewers are a specific class which can easily digest "Hinglish"

There's nothing wrong with Hinglish. Most of the people speak Hinglish but these Bollywood actors only speak English and make fun of those who are not really good at English

Its funny you are calling them out on their hindi and then you go on to write a whole paragraph almost entirely in Urdu

There will be few wannabees in Bollywood or anywhere for that matter who would feel that doing certain things or as in this case speaking in English is cool. But most of them speak in English because they have grown up in an environment from

where they have picked up speaking English and it actually comes naturally to them. Also in a country where English is a common language it shouldn’t matter. 

 

But yeah, making fun of other actors is childish and foolish.I don’t know if top actors actually do that. Only few wannabees will make fun of a fellow actor for his/her English.
