Is this a dig on Tamil Nadu and your perceived peculiarities in peoples names from that region?  Let them name themselves any way they want man how does that bother you?  Besides there is no Tamil regionalism in Cricket,  their team sucks there is no one to do regionalism.

Dhawan - Picks on merit
Rohit - Vice Kuptaan
Rahul - His best spot is at 3
Kohli - His game is perfect for middle order
Gill/Jadhav - Gill can be perfect partner with Kohli. If exp is needed, Jadhav can be retained till WC.
Pant/MSD - Ideally Pant but we know MS will play.
Pandya - Picks on merit
Bhuvi - will be good in Eng + good death bowler.
Kuldeep/Chahal - One will play
Shami - need a bolwer who can pick wickegs with new ball.
Bumrah - Picks on merit

We need to go with:

1) Dhawan

2) Rohit

3) Kohli

4) Rahul

5) Pant

6) Pandya

7) Jadhav

8) Bhuvi

9) Kuldeep

10) Chahal

11) Bumrah

get in a seamer in place of one of the spinners if the pitch demands it. Don't push Kohli down the order, he is the GOAT at 3. Rahul can adjust at 4. If we need to tinker with the batting, why can't we move Rohit to 4 (he has experience playing in the middle order) and push Rahul to open?

I still think Kohli needs to bat at 4 and play more of an anchor role from now on. Rahul can bat at 3 imo. Kohli's strength is his exceptionally good strike rotation and he can make sure that the run rate doesn't fall behind. It would give Rohit,Dhawan and Rahul to attack the new balls and play their strokes. Pant in for the late order hitting. This would massively improve our lineup.

Been calling for it for over a year now.  But #4 means fewer opportunities to rack up cheap mountain of ODI runs against SL, WI etc.  When the team is already winning a big chunk of games, there isn't much incentive or pressure on Virat to give up a cushy top 3 slot at great personal expense, just to improve the team marginally.

It seems as if all the good upcoming batsmen are ones that bat in the top 3 for their domestic side.

Rahul, Shaw, Gill, Pant, Iyer, Agarwal etc. Are all top order batsmen.

Where are the middle order options? Which domestic middle order specialist is ready to break into India’s ODI team?

I have been repeating this every third post in past few years, its just like the Indian team where all the easy run scoring opportunities are hogged by top order and they inflate their stats, same happens in domestic too.
