Weird but Indian team looks more efficient without Kohli and Dhoni

Recommended Posts

Rohit captaincy is impressive.

The way he set fields today on big ground to cut angles was excellent. He always brings his best bowler early if there is chance to go for the kill.

I'm sure kohli wouldnt have given debue to krunal, either sundar or chahal would have played.

reason for the efficiency :phehe:

6 pack etc is a western concept. Look at all the pehelwaans or even yoga gurus they have a little belly which is where the energy comes from. That is why while all the 6-8 pack sportsmen break down, Ro continues to be a 6 hitting machine :)

Damn You guys have brainwashed me into speaking like the poster you think I am :)

Bumrah got picked by IPL team based on his SMA trophy exploits for Gujarat in 2012.  People say he learnt yorkers from Malinga in MI.  They are chutiyas.  Bumrah was bowling yorkers and winning Gujarat games qt 19 in 2012.  Only then he impressed John Wright and got picked.

Exactly.

The biggest differences I see are ...

Kohli does not let fringe players and rookies settle down. There is a lot of chop and change ...  and expects every other batsman to be similar to him in batting approach and preparation.

Dhoni gives a lot of  instructions to young bowlers which may affect their own thought process ...  and some quota picks come in the team when Dhoni is playing.

Rohit  (  atleast as a stand-in captain  )  does not have any of these issues.

He gives a full run to fringe and younger players and does not over-instruct.  So, fringe players seem to be more comfortable and relaxed and perform better.

Ofcourse, we may see some new issues cropping up if Rohit becomes full time captain.  But he looks tactically better and a good man manager.

He got picked by John Wright who was watching the game as an MI scout. Then what fast tracked him to Indian team is him becoming the top run getter in SMA trophy 2015-16 and not just IPL exploits though IPL is certainly a better metric than SMA trophy for selection for Indian team.

Lol so true. Fans are doing disservice by attributing bowlers/batsmen's success to captains like Dhoni and Kohli. Yes they might have influenced them by at most 10% but it's the players themselves who put in the hard yards like Bumrah.
