Yes, he is the President of a major National (now a mere regional) Party. The fact they nominated a "pappu" for that position is matter of another discussion. Edited May 24, 2019 by coffee_rules

coffee_rules Posted May 24, 2019 Author Posted May 24, 2019 She can talk well in both Hindi and English. Perfect for PR. Too bad if MSM doesn't like her.
Gollum Posted May 25, 2019 Posted May 25, 2019 (edited) Truth be told I don't like her that much. Respect, but not like. She looks like an ambitious, power hungry person who may very soon get too big for her shoes. She was deadly anti-Modi in early 2000s and now swears by his name, why? Lust for power? You need to stand by your people when they are in deep ****, and Modi was unfairly maligned for 2002. That's why I will always respect Shiv Sena (and Akalis), they may have 1000 different faults but they back their partners when real storm hits....Bal Thackeray was the guardian angel for Modi in those tough times. Smriti Irani, the rhetorical icon of BJP, was once an avowed enemy of Narendra Modi Dunno about others but I can never truly accept Smriti and Gadkari. Smriti tried to make Modi resign, get him sidelined from party while Gadkari senses the wind and makes cunning statements, manipulates media, uses RSS links etc to undermine the top brass (old habit).....both won't hesitate to stage an internal coup if they are to benefit. Modi has to watch out for his back and be wise while choosing his successor. There are a few Trojan horses in BJP camp, biggest one being Jai-Italy (protector of Gandhis)....hope Modi doesn't meet the same fate as Julius Caesar. Edited May 25, 2019 by Gollum chewy 1

Far more needs to be done on the ground to transform the country in order to earn the title. beetle and chewy 2

You miss the point, she is still relative new to politics and has suffered huge abuses, yet she overcame and has her own stature. Thats PM material right there as she risen from bottom to top... coffee_rules and G_B_ 1 1

For reference sake, Sardar Patel is referred to as Iron Man of India, much before the statue was planned. You think she earned the equivalent title by defeating Rahul Gandhi in an election, even if its a Congress bastion and she gets criticism, which is usual these days for a politician? beetle and Gollum 2
Turning_track Posted May 25, 2019 Posted May 25, 2019 Good job by Smriti. Media reporting that she used to come to Amethi for 2-3 days every month in recent times to look into the projects such as road construction, electrification work in gram panchayats. Its a pity that a VVIP seat such as Amethi under Sanjay Gandhi, Rajiv & Rahul hasn't progressed much. A good start but still a long way to go. Gollum 1
Gollum Posted May 25, 2019 Posted May 25, 2019 She isn't an Iron Lady, did a great job, congrats but some perspective folks. Those who have received such lofty titles have actually contributed big time for their country/society/community. Sardar Patel unified the nation including princely states post 47, his uncompromising commitment to national integration earned him the title. The Dark Horse, chewy, Clarke and 1 other 4

beetle Posted May 26, 2019 Posted May 26, 2019 Beating Pappu in these times is not that big an achievement . She worked hard for 5 years and deserved it . The fact that Pappu chose to fight from two places ( this should be stopped) itself shows it was pretty much possible .

She also has the capability of mismanaging issues like in the jnu case . Too early to even be considered a heavy weight . Beating a ' by now useless pappu ' is not such a big achievement . She is a light weight and has to work hard in coming years to be called a major leader. Adi BB 1
