If only Rat, Rohit, Dhawan, Rahul knew how to bowl a few overs, we won't even have to sweat over this guy recovering. India could have gone in with a pure batsman. All these years playing cricket don't they ever want to learn bowling?  This is beyond perplexing. Jadhav started bowling only a couple of years ago.

Kohli and Rohit can bowl a couple overs I think, idk why they won't. Kohli bowled against WI in WT20 2016 Semis and got a wicket I believe. Rohit used to bowl a bit, not sure why he stopped.

SA can't play spin so I agree with the team in the OP and it's a flat pitch. Plus Jaddu is a left hander which will provide some variety. Just for this first match we can try Jaddu at 7 and it will also allow Kedar to recover. VVS also chose this team and after we can slot Kedar back at 6 and play 4 bowlers - one of chahal and kuldeep must go. You can't have a tail beginning at number 8 with Kuldeep, it's ridiculous. Kuldeep is the only one who can hold a bat out of chahal, bumrah and shami. But even he can't find the gaps easily and definitely no big shots. I miss Ashwin and Bhajji.

These are flat pitches and now I think about it we should have just had bowlers to restrict who can bat well. That and Pant and saini are missing. Shankar is a poor version of Binny and Kartick is a waste of a spot. This team has no back up proper batsman or fast bowler. I hope it doesn't back fire, they just selected a "safe team" that can reach SF.

Shankar's poor IPL was overlooked because apparently it's not like ODI cricket. That is correct but the fact he sucked their with bat and ball in any situation shows he is out of his depth. I hope to be wrong but the NZ innings was a one off. Rayadu was right, he is jero D. Seeing him bowl, I think many club bowlers can do what he does. No pace, no variations, no movement, bounce, no real accuracy either.

Rahul Knock yesterday settles everyone pick to a certain exchange.

My 11 : Considering Kedar Jadhav to not be 100% fit.

Dhawan

Rohit

VK

Rahul

Dhoni

Pandya

Jadeja

Kuldeep

Shami

Chahal

Bumrah

Spinners : 3

Fast Bowlers : 2

Medium Part-time : 1

Batting till 7 + Kuldeep-Shami can Knock it around.

Why Jadeja? Batting is on the rise and looks confident. Can easily give full 10 overs plus a gun fielder. I know it's three spinners but still....

What's your eleven?

That is exactly the lineup I had. No changes as 3 spinners are good against SA. The only one I am slightly hesitant about is Pandya but he does deserve a chance.

When we are playing Kuldeep, Chahal, Shami and Bumrah our batting depth becomes ridiculous.

I'd play Kul-Cha vs SA and select BK in stead of Shami. If Kedar is fit then he slots in at 6 else Shankar

should play. Jadeja should play as a spinner who can bat and not an all-rounder.

This is my XI vs SA in the first match:-

Rohit

Dhawan

Kohli

Rahul

Dhoni

Kedar/Shankar

Hardik

BK

Kuldeep

Bumrah

Chahal

Shankar is a joke. He will fail badly with bat and bowl.Terrible Terrible selection. I somehow want to fit Kartik in the playing XI along with Dhoni but how ?

Put karthik at 5, Dhoni at 6, Pandya at 7. Then the remaining 4 will be the bowlers where some will be dropped, rotated based on the pitch and conditions. The batting order becomes stronger.

The only thing lacking is a 6th bowler. This will come to hurt us if one of the bowlers have a bad day and get carted around, there will be no backup option.

Jadeja is not a batsman. Hope Jadhav recovers as he is key for balance. Else it has to be Shankar.

against SA who can not bat spin may be Jadeja can replace Shankar. its a tough call based on pitch, if pitch aids swing bowling - go with Shankar else Jadeja, if Jadhav is available Jadhav trumps both.

3 spinners in smallish grounds lol no. maybe only against Eng and SA

My 11 would be

Dhawan

Sharma

Kohli

Rahul

Dhoni

Jadhav/Shankar (we need a proper batsman at 6 if Jadhav is not fit, send him back and get a proper batsman)

Pandya

Bhuvi/Chahal (depending on whom we play)

Yadav

Bumrah

Shami

I was once timed at 130kmph, similar pace to shankar lol. It's not just pace rather he doesn't look international class and has conned his way into the team. Kartik can only play in this world cup if jadhav loses form or doesn't recover at number 6. It could happen after all we don't have a back up batsman in our squad. I know we are going through a lean patch with middle order batsmen but we should have still selected someone. Saini/ishant needed to be in the squad too and pant.

Play Kedhar and Bhuvi in place of Shami and Jaddu whenever Thala says

Posted
  1. Duryodhan
  2. Hitman
  3. Koach
  4. KLPD
  5. Fuccboi
  6. Thala
  7. Bhuvi/DK/Jaddu (Depends on pitch & weather)
  8. Kuldeep
  9. Shami
  10. Chahal
  11. Bumrah

Going without 6th bowler would be a terrible idea. One injury & then Kohli will have to bowl.It will also increase workload on Bumrah & Shami . Shankar is a terrible bowler. I would prefer playing Bhuvi at 7. If he gets back to form, that will solve most of the problems.

No Shankar please. He looks out of sorts... allow him to watch this WC on bench... if you have any other option, play him..

I think that's good reason to play him. DK looks in good touch relatively. SA clash being one of the easier ones, I think it would be a fantastic oppotunity for Shankar to get in form. Jadhav ahead of everyone though, if he is fit.

  1. Rohit
  2. Dhawan
  3. Virat
  4. Rahul / DK
  5. Dhoni
  6. Jadhav / Shankar
  7. Pandya
  8. Kuldeep / Jadeja
  9. Shami / Bhuvi
  10. Bumrah
  11. Chahal

This is what I expect to see throughout the toournament.

For India 250/6 is almost equal to 250 AO ,that's how bad the bowlers bat ,they cant even use their brains to stick along .

Bhuvi's batting will be missed (maybe even the bowling if its overcast) ,cant really drop shami ,he is a proven wkt taker ,without him bumrah will be under too much pressure to pick wkts.

Ideally I would go with bhuvi in place of chahal on pitches with movement and swinging conditions.

Else its shami ,kulcha and bumrah

Virat will go in with following team  :

Rohit

Dhawan

Virat

KL Rahul

Shankar/Jadhav

Dhoni

Pandya

Jadeja

Kuldeep

Shami

Bumrah
