My 11 : Considering Kedar Jadhav to not be 100% fit.

Batting till 7 + Kuldeep-Shami can Knock it around.

 

Why Jadeja? Batting is on the rise and looks confident. Can easily give full 10 overs plus a gun fielder. I know it's three spinners but still....

Jadeja is at best a no.8 batsman. In 2015 Jadeja + Ashwin = 1 batsman. Jadeja alone is 0.3 batsman at best. India needs batsmen who can bowl not bowlers who can bat.  Shankar is capable batting up the order depending on the move. Can Jadeja bat at the top of the order like Vijay did in NZ? No. Jadeja is clueless against pace. Whacking Santner for a couple of sixes won't make him an "all rounder". In the absence of Jadhav it should be Shankar. Dhoni probably will influence to pick Sir Jaddu.

Yeah I concur with poster above. I see Jadeja coming in if one of Kulcha misses out (and they shouldn't, goven that its SA). I'd go with Shankar at #6 /#7 vs SA if Jadhav misses out. I know he failed today, but Shankar's batting is a notch above Jadeja's.

Completely agree,Jadeja has conned us in what 4 World Cups with this allrounder tag?

If he plays it should be as a bowler.

You can't go with Just 2 seamers on these pitches. If you play Jadeja you have to drop Chahal.

Jadeja over Shankar. The latter has not shown any spunk for international matches thus far. Jadeja we know can do a solid job with the ball and turn a match on its head in the field.

Its quite confusing actually, Virat may have to compromise on one of the strengths either the batting depth or spin or fast bowling. I dont think he will compromise the wristy combo and go in with Jadeja instead.

Definitely won't compromise the two wristy option against one of the more notoriously poor nations against spin bowling.

 

One thing to note is that this will be South Africa's third match. Be interesting to see how they go against the likes of Adil Rashid in their first game and then the Bangla slow bowlers in their second.

With Shankar struggling and his tendency to crack under pressure, you are going with 10 players anyways. Rather than artificially lengthen the batting on paper, might as well pick a more useful player

If only Rat, Rohit, Dhawan, Rahul knew how to bowl a few overs, we won't even have to sweat over this guy recovering. India could have gone in with a pure batsman. All these years playing cricket don't they ever want to learn bowling?  This is beyond perplexing. Jadhav started bowling only a couple of years ago.
