40/0 after ten should be the target in all games.

Won't work all the time. There will be cases where the openers will depart immediately after a slow start. That would put India in a more difficult position with wickets lost and lease no of runs on board in the first 20 overs. This won't be ideal, especially om flat pitches.

So the opposition's strategy should be to use their 3rd seamer in the first spell and bring their ace after the power play is lifted.

I would save all the overs from Rabada, starc for the 10-40 overs game if I think that rohit-shikar are anyway not going to take too much risk in the first 10.

This is where shikar dhawan shows his usefulness. Because unlike Rohit, he doesn't have to take risk to hit runs at a s/r of 100+. If the 3rd and the 4th seamers bowl in the first 10 then he will feast on them.

To add to the others, this will never work while chasing big scores, the pressure will be too much as seen both from Aus in last game and Eng vs Pak

we need to accelerate faster off the blocks against teams like Eng (maybe also padosis). reminds me of this movie seabiscuit, which is a horse that starts slow and ends up first. but, in one pivotal game, it is the first off the blocks because gaining an early advantage is vital.

Against poor bowling atatcks we can be more agressive. Totally different ball game to face Starc after him taking a 5 fer in previous amtch and Pat Cummins from other end. Against not so good opening bowlers, the think tank will definetely have different scoring plans.

I think it depends on the quality of the bowlers more than anything. A lot of good sides have good bowlers upfront.

I think its prudent to put away bad balls if batting first.

I think its prudent for a bit mot impetus if chasing a score more than 320.

40/0 not every game since u wont face starc n cummins in every game . Nor every team will have weak 3rd 4rth and 5th bowler

Which team has more balanced bowlers as 3rd 4th and 5th options. I don't see any. Maybe NZ.  If Steyn and ngidi were there, then SA possibly had a potent attack.  I am thinking Australia will bring in jhye  Richardson and Lyon to mix to make it better.

Jhye richardson is injured and out of WC , he has been replaced with kane

NZ has Lockie Fergusson from 11th over.Yesterday was perfect batting day for this Indian team.I doubt it could be replicated that easily. They should play according to situtation , when batting first they should not have any preconceived totals in mind .

NZ opening bowlers are boult and henry and on patta like yesterday they wud have been taken for runs. Against NZ on a patta they can easily aim for around 60/0 and we are good against pace so if any 2 among top 3 is set ferguson wnt trouble much

Exactly, and also today our openers piled runs after being 40/0, doesn't mean that will be the case every time. A bowler can come and take 2 quick wickets and it can backfire. Play to the merit of the ball. Don't strategize too much.

They just have to complement that's it. Both don't have to throw the kitchen sink at the ball. Once Set Rohit can dominate any bowler.  It will be foolish not to use the best bowler against Rohit sharma upfront. Once set he can dominate even the better bowlers.

PP score should be based on conditions and opposition. Last thing you want is Pandya to play a memorable inning in every game to bail Ind out

The goal should be to play positive cricket by rotating the strike, putting the bad balls away, and so on.

India doesn't take risks for those extra 20 runs in the first 10 over which is fair given that  our middle order is not capable of batting for 40 overs to put up a decent total. Our middle order is at best good for 30 overs. If Dhoni tuk tuks that is even worse.

Yeah, but the game doesn't work that way. Imagine 40 for no loss and 50 for 3 in 13 overs and now when tuk taking starts, we will be int eal trouble

Now say 70 for no loss in 10 and if we lose 3 quick wickets, being 80 for 3 at the start of tuk tut is better than 45 for 3, and it will only help.

I say, be watchful but don't strategize batting slow too much as not every line up has a weak 3rd and 4th bowler. Why not just play to the merit of the ball. Keep rotating if you can't find boundaries. thats the best strategy.

Yes, I will take even 75/0 after 10 overs.  The number of great significance is the latter one which is not losing multiple wickets in the first ten or in a bunch which will greatly slow down the progress of any team.  To be honest, no team really has bowling depth apart from the first one or two bowlers.  It's a fine balance when and how to attack the bowlers.
