Kohli forgot after 12 innings he avg 22.......in test matches

Thank god dhoni wasnt like u coz after ur 1st 5 innings in test u avg - 15

These statement only send out wrong insecurity among youngsters. 5 chances are to less specially for batsman....all it takes is one ball to get batsman out. Dont say out loud 5 as number coz with every failure pressure build more for next game as they knw now they have one less game left

Young Yuvi after 2000 ICC KO heroics had such a dip. I remember a tournament in Sharjah where he couldn't touch the ball against spinners, Murali humiliated him to such an extent that current TM would have terminated his career then and there, I think it was that series where Sanath's 189 beat India (53 ao).

yup he was quite bad against spin in his initial years

His avg  was 22 till 30 games n around 29 till 86th game. He became consistent from late 2005 onwards when he was almost about to get dropped

Did Karun Nair get enough chances after that 300?

Nope he got only 4 chances after 300 and dropped from squad for rohit sharma who came in team for god knws what perfomances as their was no series in between Ind-Aus n Ind-SL.....only IPL which wasnt good for rohit that season .

Also Nair 4 failure after 300 was in Ind-Aus series in which kohli himself failed badly

His 100 against RSA in the 2005 home ODI series was the turning point. Rescued us from 25/5 or something, we still lost but at least put up a fight.

I think this is what is wrong with Kohli's team selection methodology.

Most good " team builders ", in the history of cricket, spot the right kind of talents first.  Then back them to the hilt.

Kohli does not seem to have conviction in his talent spotting abilities.

Which is probably why he gets so impatient with youngsters and needs constant feedback via consistent performances even from a rookie. But it does not work that way. Most rookies will take a long time to settle down even if they are the right choices.

Let's say I think that I have found another Bumrah quality pacer ... do I say to myself that I will give him just 5 games and he better succeed. ?  Or do I say that I really think this guy has potential and must get enough chances to settle down ?  And if I think that the new guy is mediocre then why do I need to pick him in the first place  ?

Take time to select someone ( after considering format specific needs )  and then back him strongly.

How exactly has pant failed in tests anyway? Just because he didn't perform in windies. Wasn't he the second highest scorer for us in the Australia series after pujara? Matlab much bhi. What about the umpteen number of chances being given to rahane and Rohit? Can't take Kohli /Shastri seriously at all. We need a new coach and captain. People have forgotten the semifinal choke already I suppose but these guys really should be held accountable.

Not apparent at this point.  But it is clear that pressure is being piled onto Pant, and publicly.  It is the latter that I have a big problem with.  It is within reason for the team to feel that they want Pant to play with more "maturity" or whatever.  But publicly castigating him, pressurizing him, is counter-productive.  The only reason(s) to do so, is to set the table to push him out of the team.  There is no other reason that would justify such public criticism.
Agenda is to keep Pant away and if Pant is out then LoI keeper is?

Saha is a third rate batsman.

The Men in Blue will play around 30 T20I matches before the World Cup and Kohli said that each individual coming in the team should have a mindset to make their mark.

Neither Thalai nor his fans are involved in this fiasco :orderorder:

we Hate tests

Dude you are missing the big picture. The goal right now is to NOT allow Pant to get into any sort of form by:

a) Putting him under pressure through the media.

b) Dropping him from the format where he's been most successful.

All of this to ensure that Thala can ease back into the LOI sides keeping in mind next year's T20I WC. In fact, I'd argue that Pant has been fortunate to play as many Tests as he has so far thanks to Saha's injury and PaPa/KKD's incompetence. Otherwise they would have kept him at an arm's length from the Test side up until Thala's formal retirement.

After being India's best batsman vs AUS at home in 2017, KLR dropped after 5 innings. #Neverforget :((.

yup shastri openely gave an interview after that - Rahul is their 3rd choice keeper just becoz dhawan scored runs against Lanka

Imagine what mssg wud it had given to KL who scored in tough conditions ......he was already kept on bench in t20 where he was excelling. If KL is held responsible for his own dropping in poor form, then TM is responsible for messing him up by dropping him when he was in Form
