If KXIP had gotten Hetmeyer as well, then that middle order would have been something to fear.   Missed out on Chris Morris, who would have added much needed balance.   Pace bowling is lacking.

Who are the fans here? @beetle @Switchblade @Cricketics anyone else? FSK pitch is perfect for our bowling attack but not enough MO strength, is it possible to strengthen it? We should have bought Mushfiqur who is better than most of the SENA guys in Indian conditions, more so in sluggish conditions like Delhi. If they have any brains they should be making phone calls to his manager right now.

I didn't know about Carey's inclusion man...will put him at #6, Stoinis can carry drinks. Myself not a Stoinis or Rahane fan either.....former isn't even a Mahmudullah level player in these conditions. I haven't followed previous seasons, so don't know who performs well and who doesn't. If there is a window to purchase players now, hope DC boosts the lower MO. Don't lose hope because of a couple of bad buys, still the most exciting team with correct selection....Shaw/Roy/Hetmyer/Iyer/Pant/Carey must be the most exciting batting unit in the competition, and we have Rabada/Woakes plus a strong spin contingent to win matches in the Delhi pitch.

Will be handy on slow pitches 

Dont think only in terms of patta....ipl will have many slow pitches. Their home pitch is anyways a slow pitch

Rahane was excellent last season after mid season.....not a bad player on bench

I actually support everyone just a bit more inclined towards csk due to dhoni . Dont mind anyone winning as long as we unearth great talent .

Too much hype for Banton until he proves he can bat in Indian conditions. Let's not forget that  renowned hitters like Lynn, Maxwell, Finch, Jason Roy and  Alex Hales have been average in recent years on Indian wickets.

Surprised that KKR did not go for u19 propsects like Yashashwi Jaiswal or Priyam Garg , instead they went for Rahul Tripathi who can be used as an opener but won't give you the WoW factor. However Siddhesh Lad can come out good in middle order, he is a hidden gem in domestic cricket who never got enough exposure to India International setup. He can also bowl couple of overs.

Nitish Rana(can bowl a over or two)

Morgan( does he still bowl?)

Russell(can bowl a over or two)

I agree with OP that middle order is pure quality. If Gill and Banton can excel then that's probably the most powerful top 6. However the bowling will depend a lot on how Mavi, Krishna and Warrier does.

 

Overall I think MI has the best balance, DC has very good Indian batting, RR has very good overseas batting, SRH is always the moneyball team and comes good.

 

RCB likely to falter with Kohli as captain, KXIP will go nowhere, and CSK may see age catching up even though other than Rayudu they have the smartest set of cricketers.
