Overall a good team

Rohit

Rahul

Virat

Shreyas

Rishabh

Shivam

Shardul

Kuldeep

Shami

Bumrah

Saini

The bowling  attack of Bumrah,Shami,Saini,Shardul Kuldeep will be good in NZ China Conditions.

Dube can be the sixth bowler

Good XI..

But Kohli might play Jadeja ahead of Dube though or play Sundar instead of one of the pacers.. Four quicks + Dube might seem like too much of fast/medium pace bowling..

Also, he might not let go of Dhawan easily.. which means Rohit, Dhawan open and Rahul, Virat at 3,4.. and Iyer's place isn't guaranteed..

So this means Rahul is designated 2nd WK. I thought one of the selectors said Samson is the backup of Pant :giggle:.

Hopefully Surya Yadav performs in the A series to get a look in.

Only 6 specialist batsmen but 4 spinners and 4 pacers. Is this the combo they will pick for T20 WC? Or are places being kept warm for the captain’s favourite Bhuvi?

Among batsmen, no Samson, no Gill while Dhawan, among the worst T20 openers, gets picked again.

Piss poor squad selection, something that the Kohli era has now been known for. Even Ganguly as BCCI Chief hasn’t helped stem the rot.

hopefully- Rahul, iyer, pant, dube, thakur, saini get all 5 games

Lets try Thakur at 7 also this time

Rohit, Dhawan, Kohli, Jadeja, Bumrah will get all 5 games

The only change required is SKY or a hard hitter in place of Dhawan and Pandya in place of Jadeja. Very important series if Dube and Sundar to perform even if they play couple of matches, minor mistakes may go against them to protect Jadeja and Dhawan.

Kiwis are not very good,we should white wash them in T20s.

Neither was SA n bang yet they beat us in 1-1 game. Its T20 anyone can win any day....NZ is in their backyard n they have some match winners

India's T20I squad for NZ tour announced: Virat Kohli (C), Rohit Sharma (VC), KL Rahul, S Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, Manish Pandey, Rishabh Pant (WK), Shivam Dube, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, W Sundar, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohd. Shami, Navdeep Saini, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur

My preferred 11 from above squad:

KL

Pant (given more responsibilities including of getting Ind off to a flyer and opportunity to develop his game)

Kohli

Iyer

Pandey

Jadeja (for batting + fielding + 2nd spinner) .... or Sunder if in better form

Thakur .... or Dubey if in better form

Kuldeep .... or Chahal if in better form

Shami

Saini

Bumrah

No Rohit and Dhawan? Wishful thinking

Spin quartet.

2 of the 4 spinners (  Sundar and Jadeja )  are basically all-rounder and backup all-rounder for No.7.

I feel this is a good idea  (  Having the No.7 as a spinner all-rounder ) ... and then have 3 specialist pacers and 1 specialist wrist spinner.

This allows us to play 3 specialist fast bowlers.

Hardik ... when he comes back ... must bat at 6 in both T20Is and ODIs ... and allow us to play 3 specialist fast bowlers.

Hardik.at 7 meant we kept on playing just 2 specialist pacers in LOIs ... and that was a bad idea.

that is my preferred 11 in T20s as we need to develop youngsters by giving them more responsibilities and opportunities (battting at better positions, which these oldies hog up)

They are not gonna let any wk batsman settle before the t20 wc so Dhoni has a chance. Otheers wont have a chance and Pant will keep getting attacked and demoralized

For that to happen in ODI, Hardik needs to show more application and consistency. If Hardik can cement his place at 6 based on performance then it gives the team much needed balance but so far Hardik has not really been fully convincing as a number 6 in ODI lineup. For now playing Hardik at 6 means you need to play Jadeja at 7 depriving the team of it's proper bowling arsenal. I will not prefer Hardik at 6 atleast in SENA countries now.

In T20 absolutely he should bat at 6. Infact if Dube can improve his bowling and Hardik can improve his batting then In SENA that should be out 6-7 for T20s and hopefully in ODIs in future.

This is a good news. Let's see new selectors show some vision and pick some young batsmen in 50 overs or bloody old way of kedar etc. Even Dhwan should make way as we need to try someone as alternative.
