sarcastic Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 This is a positive move by Virat instead of dropping KL Rahul to number 4 where he is not that good!
cowboysfan Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 what an idiot,he is probably the greatest no 3 of all time, why would he bat 4? this feels like he wants Dhawan no matter what since he is his friend. sandsaims and Kothili 1 1
zen Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 Viv Richards batted at both 3 (51 innings) and 4 (81 innings) sandeep 1
Ankit_sharma03 Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 Also why to mess with iyer n Rahul position just to adjust dhawan who high chance wont feature in next WC AuxiliA, Norman and Kothili 3
RajBan Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 Kohli probably came to the interview after couple of friendly pegs with his mentor.

The Realist Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 Only for Dhawan Kohli has probably already given Dhawan his credit card details, alarm codes etc. raki05, Cricwala, diehardpacer and 4 others 7

ShoonyaSifar Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 Only two out of Rohit, Dhawan and Kohli should be in the 11 going forward. If all 3 have to play, let Dhawan be at 3 in that case. We know Rahul and Rohit can’t bat in the middle order. Now let Dhawan bat out of his comfort zone. And while we are at it, more chances for Iyer to bat at 3/4.
Khota Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 That is the right solution. Rohit, KL and Dhawan top three and Kohli after that. Key is to get all play makers on the pitch. Finally a good move by Kohli.
bowl_out Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 The only good thing about this is it feels like we bat deeper.. We were saying top 3 or bust.. now it is top 4... until Iyer/Pandey/Pant are consistently played and can prove that they can consistently do well in ODIs

The issue could be that the oldies do not allow these guys to play in positions where they can develop their game. Also the new guys appear to be under more pressure whereas earlier youngsters used to enjoy more relatively speaking. You can expect run-fests.. At least one big daddy hundred each for Kohli and Rohit. That said, I have never understood why Rohit and Dhawan persist in T20s... The shortest format should be a young man's game.. We won the WC T20 with a young team and failed miserably when Yuvi (who was a WC hero in 2007) continued to play for much longer than he should have.. They should make Bumrah or Iyer T20 captain and get more youngsters in the side..

I don't see a point of a daddy 100 by Rohit for e.g. (takes the opportunity to groom youngsters in the middle away) when he may not be around in 2023 or fail when it matters. Kohli though tends to rest himself in many ODI series .... Maybe it is better to use the opportunity to groom/improve a Pant and a Pandya, who can be matchwinners in KO games, to play a long inning and face pressure situations Exactly, have guys like Pant, Gill, etc., open in the shortest format Makes sense of having a young captain in T20s. Maybe we will see some changes after the 2020 T20 WC Edited January 13, 2020 by zen
putrevus Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 Rahul is not given in odis, so if they want to experiment with Kohli at no4 it is fine but they should have done this two years ago. They wasted one world cup for this, Kohli is such an idiot.

Ankit_sharma03 Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 If virat plan is to be at 4 in future it ll mean iyer goes 5 and pant 6 Thats means we will only go with 5 bowler....which can be disastor A 6th bowling option is must. So this idea is foolish in every sense- 1. Compromises 6th bowler 2. Changes position of rahul n iyer , they shud be given one role n allowed to settle in. This changing of order hasnt helped before. This will create insecurity among both 3 changes the position of our best batsman who became great batting at 3 All this to adjust someone who will be 38 next Wc.
vvvslaxman Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 I don't mind batting below Thakur since he is hitting the ball well lol
vvvslaxman Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 High time Kohli realizes he can play only one of the ambuja jodi not both once Rohit is back. Rahul as an opener is just finding his groove. Don't kill it.
