Suresh Raina announces retirement from International Cricket

A rare gem in the middle order who used to give it all for the team. A gun fielder & could be used in different kind of situations. With his limitations still proved to be a vital cog in our batting order & made us win so many matches in crunch situations. Can't be forgotten for his contribution in 2011 WC & 2013 CT. Happy retirement to Raina ji.

India needs a Raina type player for 2023 wc.

KLR has the potential to be a much higher version of Raina at #5. If we plan properly, shake up the coaching setup, relieve Kohli from captaincy duty and select the best possible squad our 2023 team can be better than 2011 India, much better. Only problem is brand value has a huge say when it comes to XI selection, and we don't think long term, lack ambition etc.

I would not play Rahul lower than no.3 ,his brutal best will come at the top,not lower

just like Rohit ,he is quite dangerous perhaps with little more flair,we need to cash in his this very ability at the top

Not just Rahul anyone who does get a chance to open for India in LOIs should be a swashbuckler

Rohit shouldn't be dragging himself to wc23(3years is a long time)

In an ideal world Rahul,Pant could be an electric opening pair with Bollywood kohli coming next,Gill after him(vice versa)

What a clutch player. The ones we don't see much in Indian team.  Explosive left hander in middle order.  Apart from Nitish Rana I guess we don't have any replacement for him.

That Inns vs Pak in mohali SF will always be immortal.

Good luck to Raina and his nephew in all their future endeavours.

A hero of our 2011 WC campaign.

Who is the nephew? Is he already in first class cricket?

End of Project Raina

Nobody remembers him. Chele ko bhool gaye. Guru ko yaad karte.

Thanks for those knocks in QFs and SFs in 2011 WC, that saved India.

Great finisher along with Yuvi and Dhoni.

Thanks for your contribution

What a Middle order that was yuvi, raina and jawani deewani. We ll never have such middle order match winners.

This was the shot that won us the WC. Stats don't do him justice, brilliant matchwinner. One half of India's greatest ever ODI partnership. Happy retired life Raina.

We will get ,maybe even better if next gen is groomed properly ,its not rocket science just top 3 needs to sacrifice some easy games/series,we will get there

We are in a position we were never before,if we realise it and act accordingly,we can field worlds stongest xi in every format in 1-2 years, just need proper planning and vision

Yup...A Rahul, Iyer, Pandya, Pant combo can be as good as long as they are given the proper backing and allowed to play their game without worrying about stats and averages. Something which Raina was blessed with under Dhoni but pushed under the bus for once Virat took over.

Former Indian captain, valuable LOI player and brilliant fielder.

Are you talking abut one person?

Raina was the captain?
