S.R problem for RCB top 3 batsman

Thats why RCB won't win an IPL, no firepower upfront and AB only comes good on absolute flat tracks or wickets with good bounce and pace.

On slow and sticky wickets we have start seeing in Dubai last wicket, he is no better than Rahane.

Kohli is the GOAT t20i batsman, anyone who doubts that should watch his performance in world cups(bcoz that's how u judge him in odis)

He is out of form and that's why he is playing relatively slower than before.

I think he will turn it on in the upcoming matches.

Finch has been a letdown, the guy is a great batsman in international t20s and also has striking abilities second to none but not in proper touch as of now.

Devdutt doesn't have big hitting abilities as of now, he needs one or two season of ipl

if he is out of form, shouldn't he promote the other in form batsman above him to give his team better chance of winning?

Form wins you tournaments. Hanging on to his exploits from four years ago doesn't

Apart from devilliers who do you think he should promote?

Are u suggesting that he should promote gurkeerat, morris and sundar above him, bcoz that will be a disaster.

Also promoting devilliers wont solve anything, virat isn't suited for the no. 4 position. He will do worse at no 4

Virat should either open and send finch down or come in death overs. His inability to take on spinners in middle overs is dragging them down. Morris is a good pinch hitter he can be sent to slog spinners

Yeah, now that's a good idea. Virat should open and send finch at no. 3.

That could work for rcb.

It will give more time on pitch to kohli and that's what he needs to go gung ho.

Also finch ia struggling, swapping his position might solve the problem

One common theme with Kohli’s teams is that the top 3 tend to get a free pass. All SR related concerns and batting order experiments begin from #4 :p:

RCB would need to take a decision on Finch. Are they confident that he would fire in important matches (due for a good inning or a patch soon)? If so continue to back him. If not, try someone like Moeen as opener for 3 games. Opening w/ Mooen can create a slot for Zampa too to give them additional spin options.

One thought was to open with Josh Philippe  and free ABD from keeping duties.. But Philippe seems like a fish out of water on spinning wkts

I think we will see Philippe come back in the next game. Even though he seemed out of touch in the initial matches, it would be well worth the punt to slot him at the top against Boult/Bumrah.

If not, it has to be either of Parthiv or Pavan deshpande.

Deshpande has sometimes opened in the past in domestic T20s, but mostly played a role in the middle order in recent years. But there's a leap of faith needed and one that's likely too huge for Virat to take. Maybe it's easier to experiment after reaching 16 points and being assured of a play-offs spot.

The current XI lacks a reliable middle order - Mann & Dubey together don't inspire confidence and are bound to fail in crunch situations.

Although it's not his usual spot, FInch will have to be pushed to the middle order to allow for a brisk start & also a plan#B in the middle order if the big#2 don't fire.

This will be my XI for the next game:

Philippe
Padikkal
Kohli
ABD
Finch/Moeen
Dubey
Morris
Sundar
Shahbaz/Negi
Chahal
Saini/Siraj

The first option I thought was to slot Parthiv/Mann at the top and just push Philippe to power hit at 5. It might work for Mann to clear the in-field as an opener, but PP might take a few games to warm up and it might be too late.

An extra spinner comes in, as the match is at Sharjah.

The only solution is Finch at 4 and ABD at 5 as finisher. Give Finch the absolute license to hit as he's struggling against swing up top. Kohli and AB can continue playing their roles. Finch did well in the middle order for Gujarat Lions a few seasons ago.

With Kohli, Finch and AB in the middle order, Padikkal and Phillipe can play freely up top.

Only one of Gurkeerat and Dube can play. The 3 seamers will have to be Morris, Saini(when fit) and Siraj. No point playing the extra overseas seamer if you don't have a batting line-up that can post par/above-par scores regularly.

They should try the above in the games to come.
