And We don't have Rohit, so we only have two good established bats Kohli & KL, I don't think it would compare our 2011 line up - SRT, Viru, GG, MSD, Yuvi, Raina - all established. Even with that line up 350 + scores are not easy to chase.
putrevus Posted November 30, 2020 Posted November 30, 2020 (edited) To chase 389 , you need one of your openers to score 100 and number 3 to score 100. One of those 100s has to be 150 plus.Kohli has 2 100s in last 25 matches, he is losing while chasing also which he rarely happened before in his career. But India has to adapt and find a away to score 400 plus runs on regular basis. If Kohli does not fit the template they need to move on from him. But I have not seen any youngster staking claim. Mayank and Iyer have not shown any ability so far against fast bowling, It is still early days for both of them. Dhoni was a asset chasing 270 plus but became a liability when average scores became 325 -350. Kohli was an asset in 300 plus era. No player is greater than team Kohli , Sachin, it does not mater who it is, if they are not able to win their team matches, they should be out. Edited November 30, 2020 by putrevus

While Kohli isn't getting 100+ scores that he used to during chases, it not like we have ppl on the bench who can come & replace Kohli to score even the 50+ he is contributing. Replacing Kohli as the captain is different from replacing Kohli as a bat. We simply don't have the bench strength to play without Kohli in 50 over format. express bowling 1

I don't think Kohli has done any wrong to be replaced as a captain. People are getting confused by mixing IPL with international cricket. He has the third highest winning percentage as captain . How is he failing as a captain.
Ankit_sharma03 Posted December 1, 2020 Posted December 1, 2020 (edited) Kohli bhakt- KL rahul has shown no consistency so far . KL current batting avg 47.3 Avg in 2020 - 62.5 Avg in 2019- 47.6 Also has scored runs in aus, nz, eng Extremely consistent in last 2 yrs. Ab koi 5 saal ki consistency mangega to bhai 5 saalen ki consistency matalb player already great ban gaya hai. Chalo for fun , since kl has played 34 matches lets see where other stood by that time . KL rahul - 47.3 Kohli - 41.7 Rohit - 25.92 Dhawan - 42 Matalb prabhu ko bachane ke liye kuch bhi kahenge . Pehle kehta the KL has no talent , he cant keep his place as batsman in side keeping is saving his place now not shown consistency ......agla dekhne wala hoga Edited December 1, 2020 by Ankit_sharma03

Just bowling short of length getting extra bounce and movement both ways. He didn't bowl a bouncer, neither tried to swing the ball.

Bowling in a great channel, forcing the batsmen to make mistakes is not defensive bowling. The ball is not gun barrel straight, it has great seam movement, natural bounce from skill and natural deviation from the pitch. How it gets natural deviation? by bowling in the same area. That’s attacking bowling actually. Edited December 1, 2020 by maniac Rightarmfast, express bowling and Mosher 1 2

Attacking bowling does not mean trying to take a wicket every ball. Attacking bowling means bowling consistently in such areas where there is a high probably of a few wickets coming. ( Channel deliveries which have to be played on the front foot by batsmen ... basically targeting the top of off stump does this ) Look at how the batsmen are playing McGrath in that video. Although he is a 6'5" pacer bowling on a bouncy Australian pitch ... the batsmen are coming on the front foot for most deliveries. And there is hardly anything on the leg or too wide outside off. This is attacking bowling which invariably gets wickets. RAZPOR, maniac, SK_IH and 2 others 1 4

mishra Posted December 1, 2020 Posted December 1, 2020 (edited) Limited over cricket has changed into batsmens game. All bowlers can do is try getting wickets in first 15 -20 overs when ball is shining and match finishes before the ball is roughened up or softened up for spinners or reverse swing bowler to have any chance to have a go on batsmen. So key to winning is ensuring that your Best pacers get as much assistance(fielding , field placing and studying opponents in advance and plan) in first 15 overs. After that its all about containing the flood gates. Containing the floodgates is where our skipper completely fails. I can bet if you give Bhumrah Rabada Archer to Kohli, Kohli will still find a way to under utilize them. So to me blame squarely lies on captain. Edited December 1, 2020 by mishra

Attacking length is usually much fuller, attacking length is making the batsmen drive the ball by bowling full or pull the ball by bowling bouncers. McGrath always bowled containing length. He would hardly give you anything to drive. McGrath's biggest USP was extra bounce he got from short of length. Same is on display on this pitch but this pitch also had seam movement.

In the video, McGrath is mostly bowling good length and not back of a length. And only a few balls have bounced extra. See how many times the batsmen have played on the front foot. It would not have been possible if he was bowling back of a length. Attacking length means the batsman comes on the front foot but is actually not able to drive the ball. If he can drive then in most cases the ball is a poor half volley. ( unless the batsman drives on the up ) Mosher 1

That length and line actually did not always need too much bounce either. Reason why Mcgrath was successful in India too. Check his stats in India. It will put the best of the best to shame. Getting a batsman out is called being aggressive. And Mcgrath was a champion at that. Srinath was quicker, used to bowl more bouncers, vary lines more than him. Guess who was called the aggressor! It is very clear RKT, you havent seen much of cricket from 90's and early 2000.
