Why is the full front page criticising our batsman?

Our bowlers have conceded nearly 800 runs in 2 games! 9 times out of 10 a team chasing 390 will lose. Yes, we have glaring issues with our batting but they scored 330+ today still!

yea the game was lost by bowler but the reason for batsman getting bashed are

  • bowlers have been our biggest strength for long time now, they are allowed some off series
  • These are ur best and diff between them and next line is huge, batting atleast many deserve a place in national squad
  • When we compare ourself to world bowling isnt much diff but batting is specially against Eng who are world champions.....
  • batsman specially kohli n dhawan cant escape by showing safe cricket , if these targets are to be chased by whatever lil chance it has to be from top. They cant waste half overs and then not even carry to make a huge score leaving the impossible to others

Even if they had conceded 320-350, it would have been off day only. 374 and 389 is not just off days.

Australia has scored 9 370+ scores in last 15 years and 2 of those 9 were scored within 3 days.

This was like an associate team having off day type of bowling.

Because people here have this complex that we have some kind of world beating bowlers and not ready accept that we are absolutely rubbish.

Our batsmen are fine. We just had a couple of years of good phase in our bowing. Otherwise we have been, still are and most probably will always be a rubbish bowling unit.

Wait for test matches for the bubble to burst when oz will score 700 runs every match

Because our batsmen lost the plot in both the games and never looked like they were in with a chance. A decent opening partnership and that's it! In both the chases, it was clear they were following the Dhoni formula of "revising" the target and aiming to only reach there for "respectability". 370-390 is way too many but stay competitive till the 30-35 over mark at-least! I don't have a problem with the total our batters ended up with in both games, except that it should have come in 45-46 overs all out. Losing because you ran out of wickets trying to stay close to the RR is one thing but shutting shop by the half way mark itself and window dressing the scorecard isn't.

Because of our bowling they have dished out such flat pitches ,if our bowling was like the good old times they wouldn't have been the same even test pitches would be flat road and yeah it's a collective failure of the whole team and for many reasons

1. Our team (bowling) is playing a longer version games after quite a while so there body's aren't quite ready for Odis.

2. Some batsman aren't at there best form.

3. We keep comparing ourselves with England without being mindful of our resources

4. Mostly we r good weather people who supports players in good days lol

Well put. If icf is any reflection on Indian cricket fans or Indians in general. Then we are fair weather, timid, self loathing piece of garbage basically for the most part but interspread with absolute wit elegance and charm of course :p:

Not 9 out of 10. Above 372 has been chased only ONCE in the history of cricket. In that freak 438 chases. It has otherwise NEVER been chased successfully in cricket history.

To be perfectly honest, none of the top order batsman has stood up and taken the mantle. Nobody has hit a daddy 100. And in such matches, atleast 2 of the batsmen need to take up responsibility.

If you call yourself a batting powerhouse, you got to do the right thing. Batsmen cant expect bowlers to do all the work everytime.

the chances of winning  an odi game when the bowling team doesn't  take a single  wicket till the 15 over has to less than 5%.this bowling attack  is on pace to be historically bad and needs  no excuses.

It baffles me to see this ,I've been following ict on and off quite a while though my account might be new ,here it's a trend to hype the plyers when they succeed and blow up heads when they dont.

Indian batting is a 290 to 325 line up. On a good track, bat first or second, we hit the mark 7 out of 10 times. Smith has been difference between two teams. His 58 ball 100s where he got those 35 extra runs in middle has been the difference in both the games. For a man with 90 SR in ODIs bowlers will have to take blame for those extra runs. We were bowling hit-me balls and captain king was clueless on how to stop flow of runs.

It is very important to back the chosen people through thick and thin. Be it cricket or life in general. Only then are good  "teams" built.

Bumrah and Shami have been absolutely top bowlers in international cricket in the last 5 years.

Just 2 matches or even one bad tour won't change anything.

And the back drop has to be seen too. 50 odd days of the IPL in unaccustomed gruelling heat, takes a lot out of fast bowlers.

The only thing they need is rest ... to get back their mojo. They should be rested in the T20I series.

Even Saini has been our top quick bowling prospect. The flat and true pitches of Australia, which offer little movement, are often the worst places for rookies to bowl.  It is important that we support him in the early stutters he is facing in his career.

The next set of bowlers won't do anything better in Australia.

Saini

Prasidh

Tyagi

Mavi

are my 4 personal choices as pacers who have the potential to be good all condition pacers.

And these quicks should be backed to the hilt.

Is anyone talking to the young guys when they are having issues  ?  What is the problem they are having ... and how can that be rectified ... is the correct approach to improve. Dumping top prospects after a few bad games won't achieve anything.

But our TM is very quick to discard young players. Gill was dropped after 2 bad ODIs and has not played since, in 21 months.

Absolutely agree with everything you have said I may add it's just not the bowlers the batsman also need time to do well, we can't put guns on everyone after failures in some bilaterals we have gone through much much worse phases in our cricket I don't think that a series loss after 10 months of playing no int cricket is right reflection of a teams performance in general.

Most importantly we can't compare ourselves and the way of playing cricket with other teams with being mindful of out resources few failures are bound to happen here and there ,it's a part of life. Noone is invincible ,we are not playing gully cricket.

Who is calling India batting powerhouse.  to be called batting powerhouse you need more than 3 good batsmen. Top three have been carrying this team for last 8 years. India ceased to be batting powerhouse after 2011.

People must be kidding when they  are expecting 389 to be chased by this Indian team. Kohli is not Kohli for last 20 odd matches and it is showing  in the results. There is no Rohit to share the burden. Pandyas of world will not chase 200 forget chasing 389.

u gotta look at what opposition also did, when u give a platform to player like maxwell then he ll make it worse . Thats is why such players are dangerous coz when they have their day nothing will work and they ll make an off day into awwfull day

When someone gets a 63 in 19-20 balls he basically has made it worse and its his credit. Same yuzi has had a number on maxi but maxi found a solution and got over it.

Same happened in a Wc game when pandya innings took the game completely out of Aus hand.

Off is off but its such players like Maxwell, pollards , russell who cane make it worse on their days

Aus pitches back in the day used to be Aussie fast bowlers running through our line ups. Now it is a batting shoot out on flat pitches and our batsmen are not able to keep up.

Remember India in recent times has lost due to poor Batting and terrible fielding and our bowlers have picked 20 wickets and had opposition on back foot on every away tour.

Kohli, Rohit, KL Rahul to name a few. They are not your regular mediocre line up I'd say.
