Lol. This is definitely not captain's team. Shastri/Kohli have decided the team for 2nd.

You mean not the entire tour? They're probably already done that, barring injuries &/or other major catastrophes.

Believe me, this is the bets possible XI for India atm. Even if we lose now, I'm happy they're fielding the best possible XI from the available resources -

Rahul

Agarwal

Pujara

Gill

Rahane

Jadeja

Pant

Ashwin

Siraj

Bumrah

Umesh/Saini

Time for Saha to retire already. If Gill clicks, time for Rahane to retire by the end of this tour.

Opening with KL may not be a wise move.  He still has issues with his defence.  A Talented stroke maker like him should bat at no 4. Let Gill open in MCG.  Anyways welcome changes.  Is Jadeja even fit?  It would be weird he recovered so quickly.  Anyways team is slowly learning the value that LHB brings.   I'd even say open with Jaddu & Mayank & keep left right combo to unsettle Aussie new ball combo.

R Jadeja

Mayank

Pujara

Rahane

Gill

Pant

KLR

This is my Top 6.. A left hander at the Top & a leftie in lower middle order.  A perfect eleven that can take the fight to Australia.  Gill & Pant both play spin well so keep them in middle order.  KLR is best utilized when he has to go for shots like batting with Tail.

poor vihari getting booted because he doesn't have backing or from a popular state.

In an ideal world, Vihari would keep his spot and Rahane kicked out. So unlucky Vihari, made to play all the tough matches in Eng/NZ/Aus and kept out of home matches where his prowess against spin can expose phoney Rahane.

That’s why I questioned Vihari’s role in the team. It’s getting answers now... :nice:

Vihari failed sure. But he failed when all others did on day 3. 1st innings he faced some tough conditions, new pink ball under lights. He has been treated harshly right from debut, whether being forced to open in last Aus tour or his exclusion in Indian conditions to accommodate someone as mediocre as Rahane.

Rahane is Mumbai Mafia quota... There’s a reason he’s made captain. You can’t drop a captain no matter how much pathetic he’s in batting or overall being a moron.

I hate Mumbai mafia influence. I hope, for betterment of Indian cricket, these ‘Kar’s mafia lose influence...

It's always been Karun/Vihari vs Rahane... but we know who is always favored. Unfortunate for a young player but that's clearly mafia at work.

I won't be surprised if bewda TM decided to play only Two pacers & bring Jaddu in place of injured Shami.  Will be hilarious if we decided to play with Two pacers & one of them being Spray gun Umesh.

Warner is also back lmao:drool:

I seriously think this might happen. We have history of blunders.

Vihari averages 21 in SENA. So, he hasn't done enough to deserve a place either. His only hundred came Vs Windies.

Also in next game, it will be risky if India go with four bowlers which includes Yadav and Siraj/Saini as two spots. So, just to control Bumrah's workload, they should play Jadeja as well. He can play as genuine all-rounder and bowl 10 overs. So sad that Pandya is missing from this test squad, he could have played the all-rounder role very well in SENA.
