I used to have a low opinion about him a while back. He's made me eat my own words.

For the last 2-3 years I had advocated him playing ahead of Ashwin in overseas tours based on his form. He's been relentlessly on target plucking away a wicket once in a while even in unhelpful conditions besides being a beast on turning tracks, bats better than some of our middle order batsmen and is best in the world in the appropriate field positions. Those who understand value investing would pick him first with Kohli & Bumrah in the test squad. 

 

Its great to have Ashwin's intellect & Jadeja's energy in the team, both characteristics compliment each other so well.

One of those bowlers whose wickets tally thoroughly deserves a bit more  to the 'count'    thru  his fielding efforts... Today's 'Smith run out' is one of those occasions. Pure

'Jadeja brilliance' and nothing else. I won't mind a bit if  '5 instead of 4' would be added to his 'till date wicket count'

Jadega has considerably improved in all format... odi,t20 and test overseas. Test he is really amazing he is going to be one of the ATG AR after kapil.

He can end career with 4k runs at avg of 40 and 400 wickets avg of 24.

To be fair Jadeja didn’t bowl well today and gave too many short balls and his economy rate was much higher than his normal self.. But  thats test cricket.. few days you bowl well and get no rewards and somedays you get a 4 for..

Most players get into a side as a batting all rounder or a bowling allrounder. It’s so confusing to pick either one of these categories for Jadeja, at least in tests! That’s the beauty of Jadeja, he can get into most test sides either as a middle order bat or a premier spinner, he is that good. To top it all of, he’s probably one of THE best fielders in the HISTORY of the game. He is so awesome that he’s gone being called “Sir” ironically to actually absolutely owning that nickname. He’s the second coming of Gary Sobers and Johnty Rhodes combined. Nah, he’s actually the first and only coming of Sir Jadeja.
