So Mayank Agarwal has lost his place here for proper TTF who has not a single century after playing at every number, Or is it at the cost of Vihari?  Whoever he is replacing, I want him to open - the runs which he scored against SA which is warranting his place came while opening. He better be made to open to deal new ball and not protected against it. But you never know with India, the golden boy and now vc may be shielded citing lack of practice and few other non-sense reasons. If he scores while opening, then we'll have to give it to him.

Too much hype from broadcasters & both cricketing boards for someone who is not proven overseas and now he is playing as opener. Giving Vice Captaincy will create unnecessary pressure on him too and will look really bad if he fails badly in both innings. I am interested to watch him bat as opener though against really good attack.

That's quite natural. After what he did vs SA at home when asked to open, Rohit was always coming back to the Test side (as an opener) when fit, nothing to do with the Mumbai lobby. Only if he is allowed to bat in the middle order, I'd term it as a Mumbai lobby hand.

In fact, if Rahane had failed with the bat and we had lost the 2nd test, by now there would have been a clamour to make Rohit the Test captain.

Rohit has a golden opportunity now, SCG is usually the flattest pitch in Australia. If he doesn't perform in SCG then he will never perform away from home.

Him being unfit for the first two matches was a blessing in disguise for him.

No one in this forum apart from crazy Rohit fans here in ICF would want to make Rohit the test captain no matter if Rahane wins or loses. Rohit has still not proven himself outside of India. One can even argue his place in the test side in an importnat series in Aus let alone making him a captain. You must be smoking some of those funny cigarettes :canabis:Are you from Mumbai or a Rohit fan. That would make sense if you were :phehe:

Rohit might replace Gill, why do guys assume it will be Mayank?

OTOH, Mayank gets one last chance if he is lucky and Vihari gets the chop.

Naah am neither from Mumbai nor a MI fan. He was asked to open vs SA, did that with aplomb. Was always playing the next test when fit (now whether he can succeed as an opener in SENA is still unproved and it's upto him to show he can adapt).

In fact, had he been in Australia from the start of the tour, he and not Rahane would most likely have been made the Test captain. This would have been based on his leadership style shown in LOIs and IPL and his ability to groom youngsters and get his team to perform collectively. You do not have to be a Rohit fan or from Mumbai to say this.

Rohit has been playing since 2013. He hasnt performed even after getting picked over multiple other guys like Pujara, Rahane and Rahul who has shown much better capabilities than him. One test series against SA at home doesn't override his whole test career which has been a big fail. Are you that daft to project his IPL and LOI leadership into the test level

Lol you guys getting at Rohit. A half fit Rohit is better than Mayank. He will score. Period.

Its not Rohit getting picked. Its Rohit being selected as Vice captain that grinds our gears. When you are selecting over Pujara, what does it do to his confidence. Two bad matches and face the axe.
